Anyone know why not a single magazine has reviewed the 335d? Or is BMW deliberately holding it back/waiting for the 4 to release a test version?

I guess this is the car for people who want the sportiness but need the room for a baby stroller and wouldn't be caught dead in an MPV. On the other hand based on my personal experience with hatchbacks, the chances of it creaking are pretty high.

I have no idea why this car was made but I really, really like the way it looks.

The M6 Gran Coupe makes perfect sense as it is a competitor/rival to the CLS63.

Nonetheless, glad to see BMW breaking some new ground with the 4er Gran Coupe though.

It's not a hatchback though, it's a fastback. The trunk lid is similar to the coupe and sedan, doesn't include the rear windshield which is the definition for a hatchback.

But agree on the awful rear outward visibility due to the lower roof and the massive C pillars.

Is it just me or is the F36 front end more compressed? Looks like the headlights and bumper are not as tall as the F30.... I wonder if this will cause an issue fitting the F36 M-Sport bumper to the F30 M-Sport...?

You would need the lights, grilles and more just to use the f32/f36
bumper.

GC makes the F30 look really handsome IMO. Can't wait for the F30's to get the same LED headlight and foglight's at LCI.

Someone was saying that you can set the maximum height of the trunk opening via iDrive to prevent it from slamming into low-hanging garage doors/openers.

Hmmm... then the problem is that the hatch will be too low for someone's head while putting things into the trunk.

That's it. Car's canceled.

I think I'm done with "sedans"... they have really lost their luster. I'm all for the GC concept and also wish the 4GC carried forward a few more cues from the 6GC.

Still not 100% convinced on the 4GC as there are some elements that look cheap - such as the sticker that says Gran Coupe on the C-window! The 6 does this so much nicer and more subtle inside the glass.

Also, the rear could be soooo much more sexy like the 6-series is. Otherwise, I really like the concept of the Gran Coupe's in general!

These 2 opposite comments is exactly what BMW is catering to. Those who like the F30 better will buy it; those who think it's not so hot but still want 4 doors will buy the 4GC instead of a competitor product. It's a win-win for BMW.

What no one has mentioned is that the 4GC is around 130lbs heavier, which to me is a deal breaker for the driving enthusiast. Form over function. But this is the direction of BMW these days... to cater to the masses at the expense of the enthusiast. Make the car softer, more isolated feel, slightly more luxurious plus make almost every possible variation of the 3 series to steal market share from MB/Lexus.

A 3-Series for buyers of every taste. The only car left for the true enthusiast is the M3/4.

I think I might have JUST realized this after so many years....... AND the reason why I prefer sedans the most.

The fact that it's not just that it has indeed 4 doors , it's ingress/egress is easier, and of course occupant space is more practical....

It's the SHAPE of the car from front to back! The front hood, the roofline, the deck lid design and placement, the dimensions and shape of the side windows....the overall silhouette of the car.

I absolutely love the way the GC looks. It looks like BMW got this right for sure and is extremely good looking . I just worry in 12 months when it's time to choose, if it will be what I want. I love a very capable and aggressive sedan with the whole package. So there's a lot more than just 4 doors I love so much about 3series sedans. We'll see. Either way I'll be good . That's for sure.

That's what it looks like.... I wonder if @LTMW can modify one to work... I've seen 1M and 6er bumpers on F30's.... Anything for a price I suppose
