I really don't get why we have terms like sedan, coupe, gran coupe, touring crap, whatever. How many more variations of nearly the same thing can one manufacturer have? I hope they paste //M labels all over all of them too!!! All these variations come at an additional cost that's gotta get wrapped into all cars. If you want a small 2-door, we'll make the 2-series. If you want a bit more room in a 2-door, we'll make the 4. But if you want 4 doors, we'll make the 3 series. But wait, there's more. If you want a a few inches shorter 2-door that actually has 4 doors, we'll make the 235 GC. Or if you want a little bigger 4-door, that's even a tad bigger than the other two 4-door cars (235 and 335), we'll add 2 doors to the 435 and call it a 435 GC. Of course, that's if the 5-series and 6 series (which used to have 2 doors) are too big. But if you want a really long car with 2 doors, why don't the have a 5-series and 7-series coupe???? I can see a 2016 3-series 2-door next. Won't be a coupe or sedan, cause those words don't mean anything anymore.
JC. Make up your frigging minds and build a couple cars that do what BMWs used to do. Ditch the weight and make some that drive like fairly refined raped apes. After 4 Bimmers in a row I've about had it with all this crap.

Not quite as much of a difference as I expected but then again the price difference is less too. I'm sure in person this car will be more dynamic looking than the sedan.
I don't understand the complaints against providing the buyer another choice. The 4GC cannot replace the 3 series sedan because its limitations (less overall interior room, not as comfortable for 5) would end up hurting it in comparison tests against its competitors and the hatchback styling will not appeal to everyone. Yes it may be confusing for the average person but I for one like having options. |

In Europe Audi sells a lot of A5 sportback, so why can't BMW build it's own sportier and fancy 4 door car?
You still have the 3er as a choice so what's the problem?

I now feel like seeing the 4 and 4GC it makes the F30 stand out as more of a baby 5. As an F30 owner I am biased towards the sedan, however the GC is a well designed car and looks good.
I prefer an isolated trunk and cabin which is why I have the sedan. But from personal experience, I wouldn't buy a coupe hatch as hatch rattle is very real and it will drive you insane. Especially if you get a 28i as I have experienced noticeable engine vibrations.

Ah, indeed - either I misread it at first, or Jason updated his post, but the M Sport Line description now just says "M Sport suspension" instead of "M Performance suspension." And the Sport Line description doesn't mention any suspension at all - instead, M Sport suspension is available as a stand-alone option. Hmm.

The substitution (cannibalization) must be very high among the 3er/4er and the GC. There is no big difference among the models and unless you are a car fanatic they all blend together. At least BMW should have changed the interior a bit. Pointless car...

I really don't see the point in the 4GC. They might as well kill the current 3 and build this in place of it.

It's not a bad looking car and I'm glad you enjoy your purchase, but for the money, the F30 is underwhelming at best to me. I hate the front end, the dhp system is a joke (either you're driving a sofa or having your teeth jarred out) and it doesn't not drive like a true sports sedan. That's just my. 02 These cars catch so much flack, it's true....But there's probably a reason. |

It looks the same almost. There is hardly a difference IMO. It's marginally better looking than the 3 but not enough for me to want to spend the extra money. This is a flop compared the 6 version.
