Interior 'Black trim, high-gloss'. Avoid!
I thought I should post this up in case anyone is currently looking at adding this trim to their new car order.
It scratches. Badly. I treat my cars with kid gloves and like to think I'm careful when cleaning. The F31 on loan to me until I get my F30 is a Sport with the 'Black trim, high-gloss' interior option - across the dash and along the top of the transmission tunnel around the iDrive controller. I've done nothing to it other than wipe with a damp micro-fibre or vac'd with a soft brush but when the light hits it it's covered in fine scratches. Thank goodness I went for brushed aluminium. |

First, it can be polished to have the scratches removed.
After you do so, Opti-Coat it and it wont scratch... The fine scratches you see come on the wood trim too, you just dont notice them as much because of the underlying wood grain. My last 335 had aluminum.. harder to scratch, yes, but once it does there is no fix.

It always surprises me how many demonstrators have the high gloss trim - it scratches really badly -- I would avoid it like the plague. The other finishes are much more durable.

Bit of a late addition to this post but I got a nasty deep scratch on the high gloss black trim in my Black Edition A3. Bought some Meguiar's Scratch X out of desparation and it worked a treat and polished out completely, highly recommended.

I was originally intending to get the black gloss trim.
After reading this thread & actually seeing the fine scratches on a car at my dealership, thought otherwise. Brushed aluminium for me now. Thanks to the OP for the heads up. |
