So it finally arrived at my dealer yesterday. I am scheduled to take delivery today. 23 days from port to delivery for a car with no port installed options, no special VPC work orders, 7 days or less for customs... That is a very long time just to arrange truck shipment. The dealer has been great, just seems BMW has some new bugs in their logistics for ED through NY/NJ.

Yep, took delivery on Friday. Have been driving it ever since
The dealer was nice enough to bring it to me. 1:45 each way. Car is great on my local roads. I can't see any need for a softer suspension. In fact, it could be stiffer and it would be perfectly comfortable for my usual driving. Tires are a bit noisy and don't have a huge amount of grip. I got it to its cornering limits once on Friday, and it didn't push as bad as my 135i. But the limit was overall lower than I expected. There was actually some amount of steering feedback at limit too, so that was a nice surprise. But the steering effort is ridiculously light. I can't see any reason it needs to be so light. I really can't beat what I got for the $ And this car is not slow for its size and HP rating. But I'm not 18 anymore either. Now to get the a/c fixed on my M3, then I can get a few small things sorted on the new one. Pics to follow. I will update my timeline post on Monday as well. I'm torn between 2 slat styles for my front grilles. Thoughts?
I am sure about the body colored surrounds. Didn't like the chrome and really didn't like the black on my color. I tried 2 other slat styles but didn't like them. The modern slats are cheap looking plastic color and I thought I would like the traditional chrome ones, but since this car doesn't have any chrome at all they just didn't look right. Now I'm down to the traditional black slats and the more aggressive sport slats.

Looks great. Nice car! You already made the switch to 400m.
I like the sport slats - they look more aggressive. |
