Xhp Transmission Flash

so, now the austrian guys have cracked the coding for the zf8 box, has anyone done or had theirs done ? in particularly interested in the 335d or 435d version. going to get mine flashed (doing it myself, probably, so that i can choose the best map, and revert to standard if required).
the car has already being remapped (435d) and the icing on the cake will be the xhp transmission map. coming from the amg, i find that altho the zf box is better, it is somewhat 'restricted' and could be better .... cue xhp !
for those not familier with the transmission remap https://www.xhpflashtool.com/
reviews say it totally transforms the transmission, and a couple of friends who have the zf6 remapped say it makes as much difference as an engine remap, and both together are awesome.
so over to you guys, talk to me !

Shame a group flash couldn't take place and split costs based on licenses.

XHP licences are single device (phone) and single car.

Unless you're a registered XHP tuning agent.

I've flashed stage 3 on my 435d. It's definitely an improvement with quicker shifts, the torque converter locks up sooner, gear display and the removed torque limits in readiness for a remap.

It's not the night and day change I saw on my E90 330d with the N57 though.

What reason would there be for this over the tried and tested Alpina flash for the x35d?

The XHP licence allows unlimited flashing of the AT (single car) including returning to stock. Obviously a tuner isn't going to do that for you with the Alpina tune.

XHP also has multiple transmission maps - shame it's so expensive (€349 for the 8 speed ZF units).

It came in at £299 when I purchased a few weeks ago.

I'd be interested to hear more about the real world 'feel' of the AT maps, i.e.
  • Earlier and more positive clutch lock-up (for me, this would be one of the biggest posiitves).
  • Whether gear changes are smooth rather than being slammed-in with Sport/Sport+.
  • Do the maps include a reverting to automatic mode with a long pull of the Up paddle ?
Is DSC switched off when changing between Comfort and Sport ? The standard BMW/ZF tune does this, and it drives me mad.

Thanks.

I want to get this flash done.

My car has been re-mapped. The tuner is offering to install the flash and correctly set it up for the custom map. Same price.

Would this be the route to go as it sounds like the flash would alter with some of the setting changed in the custom map?

And 8.1 secs to 62mph for a 231bhp isn't right, mine has 25bhp more and can do it nearly 3 secs quicker!

Must be an e90 with the 6 speed auto box...
Still a slow time 0-62.
https://www.car.info/en-se/bmw/3-series/330xd-6613255

Knocking half a second off an 8 second 0-62 with a gearbox flash is a lot easier than knocking half a second off 5 seconds, so don't expect the same 0-62 performance gains from a gearbox flash on an F30 with the 8 speed box.

Even that website lists the 0-100 kmh as 6.6 secs which sounds much more like it. I think they should be spending their time and money on working out why their car is so slow in the first place!

I have booked my car in at Durham Remaps who did my custom map. They have developed a process to match the XHP flash to the characteristics of the custom map. Different map settings will need to be considered in order to optimise the flash. They mentioned pressures....

I've tried to contact XHP three times in the past two weeks, using their Web form. No response whatsoever.

Doesn't give me any confidence that this is a product I want to buy, or that there would be any support available if I did.

I thought you had the Alpina flash on yours Watsey?
I'd stick with that

Nope - I did some research but wasn't convinced that was that special and, as we discussed (), it seems optimised for the high shift points for the 335d rather than the 330d.

Added to that, I can't apply or reinstate it (if the dealer overwrites it).

If XHP bothers to answer sales enquiries and actually releases the rumoured iOS version then I may be tempted.
