MSport Line Delayed?

Greetings..

I placed an order for a 328 M sportline on last week of September. I received a production order sheet from my dealer on 3rd Oct. Ever since then, my car has been sitting in 112 status. I spoke to the dealer and I was told that the delay is due to shortage of wheels and bumpers for the car and it was pushed back from week 44 to week 47. Anyone else heard/know about this? Also, assuming (very optimistically) that the car goes into production in week 47, is it possible for me to get the car before Christmas?

Thanks,

there seem to be a bunch of people in the holiday delivery thread that ordered after you and have theirs in production and have m-sport.

i ordered an m-sport 328i that is scheduled for week 46 on 10/22 , and mine has been stuck in 112 also, while others are in production. so maybe they could be right. or they sold your build slot to someone else. or they messed up something.

this is getting wierder.. Just got off the phone with BMW NA and the rep told me that im still in 112 and the last status update made to my car was on 10th Oct. No production date has been assigned to the car yet and he didnt know when it might get assigned either. He couldn't give me a reason on why its been sitting in 112 for almost a month without any production date.

Unfortunately my dealer is unavailable for the rest of the week so I wont know anything until next week..

my production sheet lists it as 133O 328i Sedan SULEV.. I'm not sure but I think this might be a Munich production.

BMW in Germany do seem to be having several stock issues.

When I was waiting on my M Sport there was a problem with the 19" wheel supply.

I've been waiting nearly 7 weeks for a replacement windscreen for the HUD system as they have had issues with the supplier for the windscreens too.

Now I don't know much about how cars are put together but I'm pretty sure wheels, bumpers and windscreens are fairly standard things. Seems like someone didn't get that memo

If your's is a Germany build, it should have gone into production by now because a lot people here on the forum including me have ordered m-sport much later than you and are already in production. Not sure what the hold-up is. Ask your CA for a good explanation, if that doesn't give you a clear answer ask the manager and if that doesn't help either I would cancel the order and look somewhere else with a confirmed production build week.

Build dates can be all over the place depending upon what allotment the various dealers have/had. In many cases, a dealer grabs a build that was already in the pipeline and tweaks it to your specifications so you get it fairly quickly. If there's nothing there to grab, you're at the back of the line.

I can easily see bottlenecks with the M Sport since it has many unique components. It's a first year build with a new line (M-sport) offered 6 months in. It's impossible to gauge what the take rate will be in advance, so there's a really good chance there could be interruptions along the way waiting on components.

As an aside, the F30 has been selling like hot cakes. BMW is having a very good year. They only have so much production capacity to work with. The higher the demand, the longer it'll take to fill orders.

Ordered a German-build 335 M Sport in late October and it came out of production, awaiting delivery to carrier, on November 6.

Spoke to the Manager of the dealership today.. He told me that he had 2 328i msport's that were pushed back.. Currently showing a build week of PW47. He told me my order was already pushed to priority 1 and he was confident that the car should be done by week 47.. I guess I'll just have to wait and watch.. Damn this is going to be a very long holiday season.

my car was supposed to be PW46 and the phone number still says it is scheduled but no confirmed date.

also a 328 m-sport, so maybe this is true.

sounds like your dealer didnt have a production allocation.
my timeline for a 335i M sport, munich build

11/8 ordered, status 112, scheduled for PW47
11/9 rescheduled for PW46, status 150, vin assigned.
should be already finished. 1800 number is lagging behind.

yeah i am hoping the 800 number is just lagging behind. sent an email to my CA to check his special website for the true status.

I am not really in a huge rush (i've got a fully paid for 2010 A4 which isnt a bad car at all), but in the end I want my new car as fast as I can. I have never ordered a car before but the wait is unbearable haha.

maybe its a youth thing. my mom thought my order process was so nice she ordered an X3 from the same CA today but she doesnt care at all that there is a wait while i'm calling that 800 number every day hoping the status changes

Yeah, you better check with your CA. I ordered my M-sport on 11/05, it went into production on Monday 11/12 (I also got my VIN that day), and should be done any day now.

You can watch your X3 go down the production line.

I ordered a 2013 sport line 335 and had a month long delay due to shortage of the sport line wheels. German build. It was not a dealer allocation issue. My dealer was initially confused about the delay when it didn't go into production and they investigated. They got an email response (which they forwarded to me) from a BMW "Central Region Distribution Analyst" in Baltimore (I'm assuming someone at the VPC) indicating it was a sport line wheel shortage. So it seems they are having supply issues with some parts for some reason.

i just called the 800 number and talked to an actual person, and they couldn't tell me anything other than it was in 112. this is aggravating. it went into 112 on 10/22 so i've already waited over 3 weeks though it was a PW46 from the start apparently. not cool

Call your dealer? They have a system that shows exact status.
