Clear Film Paint protection
Hi all,
I am expecting the delivery of my 340i sometime in April. My current 328i has only done 6.5K miles in the 3 years I have owned it, yet despite a couple of trips up and down the country I can see a lot of road rash on the lower part of the bumper and a single tiny chip on the bonnet. I am therefore thinking of getting the front end of the new car wrapped. I have done a bit of research and it seems XPel is one the best films out there. I have found a wrapper close to me that is quoting me £750 + VAT to get it done. My question for those who have done it before is: 1- Would I see a noticeable difference between the wrapped parts and the exposed parts? 2- Would I see any yellowing over time? 3- Is it worth it in your experience? I must say that I am borderline obsessive about scratches and paint chips. While I know you can never completely avoid them, I would like to minimise the amount that car would inevitable collect over time. Cheers |

I had a custom clear wrap put on the front bumper when I picked mine up. Wasn't cheap about £500 but prefered it as its fully wrapped round the edges instead of the template style. ITs good but not invincible. Have spotted couple of large chips but these where caused by small boulders.
In my view considering how bad my E90 was after 60k and fact i plan to keep this one for a while I did not want it looking the same. Have had no peel or lift only one place it has a small bubble from a stone hit. Overall its great also good bonus bugs come off it very easily in summer no need for tar/ bug remover. Definelty will get it done on next car potentially wings and hood as well

I'm have the full front end of my new 335d done when i get it in March. Xpel is the best out there at the moment. You could easily pay £750 for a front bumper respray, so i would say, yes it is worth it. It repairs itself if scratched, if it doesn't go right through the film. Xpel is thicker than other films too. You won't get swirl marks on your car that you have protected by Xpel. It doesn't go yellow. 10 year gaurantee, and i've been told their customer service is second to none should any faults occur within that 10 year gaurantee. I would only have it fitted buy someone with several years experience using expel. The finish is only as good as the fitter fitting it.
