That said, two laptops with an APIPA issue though is a bit suspicious, unless they are both running some sort of software blocking the IP Port.

But, if it is not the Laptop, and not cable, only thing left is FEM_GW in the car. So, what you really need is another F-Series car to connect to, and see at least if problem is on car side, or cable / laptop side.
Dont know of anyone that have an f-series. What about a mini Cooper Paceman S (2013) ?

EDIT: I read that Mini's uses NCS Expert when coding..

try zgw_search.exe

you see there if you have a tcp/ip connection or not. This tool is in the ediabas package.

Also had issues connection with another laptop and after I was having the engine running I could connect. Then i got a connection everytime, and even without engine running I could connect. With another laptop it was not necessary to have engine running.

PM sent.

But understand that ZGW_Search is a non functional, informational only utility. It will tell you no more than what displaying the Windows LAN Adapter Status => Details shows.

I will try this. But how could this solve your problem when ZGW search is a non functional, informational only utility?

He did not write that it solved his problem. He wrote only that it would display IP Address.

He then wrote how on one car he had to run motor to get IP address, and on another he did not.

Sorry. Me bieng lazy. Couldn't find it, so I used the search function with no luck. But I found It manually in the ENET folder..

The zgw_search gave me nothing but a blank page.

I tryed a 3rd computer last night with no luck. I even tryed to bridge local network with wireless, and that didn't help (doesn't hurt to try :P)

I want to this to work so bad! need to code my LED fogs

If you connect the ethernet cable to a router, do you get an IP address? If not then maybe theres a problem with the DHCP server (which automatically gives an IP adress). Then try to manually give your ethernet adapter an IP address, maybe this works.

Since you have EDIABAS, check and see if you can connect with Tool32.

First, make sure in EDIABAS.ini file to "INTERFACE = ENET"

1) Launch C:\EDIABAS\Bin\TOOL32.EXE
2) Hit F3
3) Load C:\EDIABAS\Ecu\F01.PRG
4) In the "Select Job: F01" window, select FS_LOESCHEN_FUNKTIONAL
5) Hit F5
6) "Results" window should show "JOB_STATUS = OKAY"

Does it work?

When I connect directly to my home network with an ethernet cable I get ip 193.69.160.65.

EDIABAS.ini is set to Interface =ENET

After loading f01.prg it says EDIABAS Fehler 162 : NET-0012: NO CONNECTION

Doens't work.

I'm no expert, but I think It is quite obvious that I don't get an IP-adress and not being able to connect when my LAN Adapert doesn't turn on when connecting the cable to the computer. The LAN Adapter stays disconnected. The computer doesn't register anything at all when I connect the cable to the computer. Same problem for all three computers I have tryed.

And just to confirm, the motor was running, and this laptop has no firewall enabled or Anti-Virus software running?

And I hate to ask the obvious, but are you positive the ENET cable is making good contact in your OBDII Port?

Yes, the engine was running, and firewall is turned off (don't have anti-virus on this computer)

I would assume the ENET cable is making good contact with the OBSII port. Pushed all the way inn and checked that is sits well.

Do you know witch pins in the OBDII port in the car is Ground and Power?

Pins 4 & 5 are Ground, and Pin 16 is Power with a 511 Ohm Resistor across it and Pin 8.

I've been reading that the most common issue with OBDII ports is the ground and power. I just have to make sure that the OBDII port in the car isn't the problem.

The port got unswitched power right?

I do not know if it is switched or not, but I am inclined to think it is switched. Otherwise, people with P3 Vent Gauges, etc. would never shut off, and would drain the battery.
