CEL after BMS intake install

I have the same problem with my BMS intake on my 435i. I have the Dinan stage 2 and my CEL for MAF is constantly popping up. Im changing it for something that won't cause a problem anymore.

Yeah. I am now at almost 1k with the MAF disconnected and I am happy to report the car runs great. What will happen when you start the car the CEL will come on for like 30 secs then disappear. When you check your DME codes on the JB4 it will say MAF short. That means nothing its just reporting that because the sensor isnt connected. Again I have the JB4 so this works, but without a jb4 Im sure disconnecting the MAF will result in problems because there is nothing for the DME to gauage AF.

Very disappointed with the quality of fit for the vacuum hose, never had fit issues like this on my other cars with BMS... Going to head outside and try and seat it again

curious about this as well because id love to get this intake to hear the turbo more and the bonus hp gain isnt bad either but i really dont want to deal with all the CEL and engine rough idle issues being reported.

the vast majority are running intake only with no problems

Double check the installation , most of the time sensor needs cleaning or to be installed correctly

Just installed my bms intake and i too got the cel. I have jb4 and was under the impression jb4 was suppose to clear that itself...?

Are you still driving with MAF disconnected? Im curious to see if thats still working out for you or if you had to connect back?
Is anyone else driving with the MAF disconnected? I too have jb4 and wondering if MAF disconnected is a bad idea or could this be a safe solution to getting cel off!!?

Hey man, I never got the CEL with that BMS intake and I don't have JB4. Did everything arrive fine? Thanks

Everything arrived great! I stop posting here because cel went away after about 5th drive/immediately after ER dp was installed. Hasn't came on again.

Hey, i know it's been a while. i had my BMS intake on since i made this thread. Everything is still running fine. the CEL light comes on now and then but it doesn't affect anything.
Only bolt on is the intake. i clear the codes and swap to stock for service.
My car has no problems at all. Just hit 30k today.

I've been running a BMS intake with no tune (yet) on my 340xi and haven't had any issues whatsoever. Perhaps people with issues aren't tightening clamps down enough or damaged the MAF when installing?

I experiencing the same symptoms explained in OP - but with dinan CAI. I haven't checked the MAF yet but will once my car cools down

Funny Dinan, ProTuning Freaks are on the forum monitoring their customers issue but BMS isn't.
