M Performance Mechanical limited slip differential (LSD)

As most of you have seen the new 2 series coming with "M Performance Mechanical limited slip differential (LSD)"( Retrofit )
do you think it's gonna be available for F30 335i ?

i think i have seen it on the Mperf F32 435i when they first showed it at an autoshow.

If it'll be available for the 2, it'll work on the F3X.

I wonder if the M Performance LSD will include reprogramming DTC/DSC to account for the new traction profile...

Of course! You would hit the DTC button and enable a little more mechanical slip to take full advantage of it...

That's One primary reason I'd wait for this, because BMW will clearly align programming with this, rather than getting a quaife or torsen that won't have associated re-programming with the car's DTC.

I'm sure under Sport/+ it'll be more aggressive too....very excited for this, all of the M Performance parts I've purchased have been a great addition.

It hasn't been released yet for the 2 series, so that's probably why....wait and watch.

I can't afford one until next spring anyhow, so I've decided to just wait for reviews :-)

Can't find the source again, but I rear somewhere that it was a very mild LSD with only 30% lock-up. Waste of money.

Someone should go old school ghetto-rig and just weld the spider gears.

That's ridiculous. You can buy a better one for cheaper with aftermarket. But then again there will be those that say it's OEM and has a warranty. See: PPK vs JB4 - one gives you more for cheaper but isn't a BMW backed product.

At 20% off that comes in at $2880 - still quite a bit more than the Quaife, though. Hopefully we will get some more good intel on the lock-up %, performance, etc... in particular, I'm interested about whether there is any type of coding associated with it to modify/integrate with DTC/DSC/eLSD.

So, what in our opinion is a good lock up for the street since you seem to be an expert on Limited slips. What is in your race car??

FYI, 30% is about the limit for most OEM LSD applications. Provides enough longevity and safety on the street while still being able to power out of corners on track. The original Factory BMW LSDs back in the day were only 25%...

I personally like them on the more aggressive side. 50/80 is what I've found to enjoy most, but it's setup dependent. Some go as high as 100% lock on deceleration, but this usually makes for too much understeer at turn-in.

I've used both a KAAZ 1.5 way and a TRD 2-way for my cars which have served track use. On another, it still has the factory LSD.

Exactly, devil is in the details, and i find it particularly insulting that BMW would release the product with little to NO information.

I found it for $2600 shipped on Tischer, and if you factor in about 3 hours of install, that's about $3200 all in.

I'll wait on the sidelines for this one until someone tests it out...or until we can get more information.
