Nah, M3 all the way.

I like Alpina, but they're a little too understated. The ///M cars are meant to do exactly what you want them too; get lots of attention, envy, and admiration.

The body kits, the colors, the stance; all of this adds up to a powerful package that wants to be desired.

///M is the ultimate expression of a BMW. Alpina is a super mod.

M3 is the better sports car no question about it. Driver did not like it because it was too aggressive for him. He was also complaining that its noisy under full throttle, i would sell my car if it wasn't noisy under full throttle

The D3 is a much more refined car, thats why you are paying so much more money for a 3 series when you get the alpina.

D3 would probably be a better daily driver as well, but i would still get the M3

I agree with you. I think there's also the likelihood that the M3 and B3/D3 are catering to different customers. M3's seem to be for the more sporting customer, while B3/D3 buyers just want something that is faster and a little different than a 335.

Yep , you could also notice from the video that the driver was having hard time handling the car and he was blaming it on the aggressive power delivery

I would say neither. Just different. I love the things Alpina does to BMWs. And I love a good sleeper. For me I'd be hard pressed to choose between an ///M car and an Alpina, but there's a pretty fair chance I'd choose the Alpina. But, even though I really appreciate the diesel, I would choose the B3 for myself.

D3 of course. For non-professional drivers the D3 will provide more consistent times on the track than the M3.

Different markets for sure, Alpina make that quite clear. More the 'gentleman's' performance car.

Neither is better than the other, IMO, as each appeals to a different type of driver. I'd prefer the Alpina, doesn't shout "look at me", is also more discreet in the European climate of Eco credentials.

Also think of Autocar and 'Sutters' comments in the UK context. Not everyone gets his logic or reasoning, (even in the UK) but a diesel Alpina on our roads and attitudes to 'showy' performance cars, does make a lot of sense as a daily driver.

No way does the Alpina distract from the M3 being what it is, and why Steve Sutcliffe understands many will choose the M3 over the Alpina any day.

D3 for everyday and Alpina image vs ///M image.

I wish the US would have a better distributor. it would be cool to get Alpina parts like wheels, spoilers...
