FlexyFrame
Hey guys,
I'm in NYC so I am looking for something to protect the front bumper and license plate from the terrible parkers here when I have to leave the car on the street. Does anyone here use this? http://www.amazon.com/Flexyframe-002...rds=FlexyFrame It looks like the best option, since it doesn't look as bad as this http://www.bumpshox.com/

Well, I agree 100%, the reason the flexyframe or whatever looks passible is that it's just a regular plate cover, maybe a bit thicker. At least from the Amazon photos...

Unfortunately, the padded number plate frame won't help protect the rear end though

Nope, I got a padded thing to fold out when it's necessary that I will keep in the trunk. I am not expecting to park on the street much, since the car will be garaged near my house, but I want to have this shit just in case.

I've used Bumpshox on my e90 and can attest to it working. I know people backed into the car because after a month or whatever the unit would be slightly loose, tightened the screws back up and you're in business. Best of all no scratches! I liked that one as well as its got those flaps above and below for a little extra protection. For the back I recommend Parking Armor.
Yes, NYC sucks for public parking, no respect other people's cars unfortunately. If you want protection you'll want to go big, otherwise you can go with removable bumper bras for the front , google it. |

The biggest issue is damage from front plate mounting screws on your back bumper. I think that front frame will only prevent YOU from damaging other folks cars. And it's so narrow it'll only protect you from someone who's already parallel to the curb. No help for bumps while they're parking.
This is ugly as crap, but a lot more effective: http://www.bumperarmor.com/bumper-gu...rotection.html In the end, who cares how your car looks whilst parked on the street. I'd prefer to protect it personally. The only issue is that you'd really need to be sure to keep the car clean so you don't scratch the paint all to hell. Although a quick polish to fix scratches and scuffs is a lot easier than continunous resprays. |
