I've had the car for less than 48 hours....

and I already have a f***'in dent on the hood. Must have been something falling from the trees this morning during a wind storm. Similar thing happened to my brand new Porsche (a branch fell from a tree and left a nice sized dent on the hood). At least PDR took care of the Porsche dent perfectly. Hope it's just as easy for the BMW.

I can't ever win.

I was joking. But still, it's pretty useless. What are my options, move? I've lived here 20 years without something like this happening.

About two months after taking delivery someone dinged rear quarter panel just above the bend at the wheel well. I called the dealer and they quoted $185 thought too much and called local auto body shop I have used in the past and they just recommended someone they use. He quoted over the phone $175 if diameter not greater than quarter.

He came to my house and I watched him remove the deep dent, it was amazing, I can no longer find where the exact spot of the dent is. BTW - those videos you see on-line would have never worked.

It took him about an hour using hot adhesive, suction cup, and hammer. He stated that the location of the dent he was not able to push the dent out from behind, why it took longer than it should. Also must be factory applied paint, if aftermarket the paint will just come off. At the end he charged me $150, well worth the price, but $88 would have been better.

Good luck, I am sure it will look just like new with the exception of a lighter wallet.

Bummer. I have to watch out for falling pine cones where I live.

Except that you said it happened to your Porsche previously...?

Seriously, tend to those trees. Hire an arborist and have them thinned/trimmed. A properly maintained tree will never shed limbs during a storm unless it's a really healthy blow or a really unhealthy tree.

Good luck with the PDR.

Yeah, it happened last month to the Porsche. And these trees are about 100ft tall * 40 of them. I live in the woods, so there's really no way around it. Plus, my garage is already full.

Make sure your PDR guy knows he's working on aluminum, not metal. The F30 hood is aluminum.

Simple car tent made from material and metal poles will stop this and also avoid sap, etc.

Think about something for the future.

Aluminium is a metal. I think what you wanted to say is that it's not steel.

That's terrible. What kind of monster does something like that unless they have some sort of personal vendetta?

You can see just how thin the new hood is compared to the E90. I think I might have to get a car cover or figure something out for the fall. All those acorns falling are going to wreak havoc.
