You'd think in a $63k car they'd have this problem sorted, this is a load of cods! Come on BMW, this should not be happening in cars like this!
You may find colder climates have a different mix.

Even on non BMW's this car be an issue, only had it on front washers not main screen (insignia and Passat).

If mixing different types of wash (or any fluid) results in a reaction then it can hardly be a car manufacturers problem (unless proven it's their fluid at fault).

Don't worry about it, if it £20 for 5 ltrs, I am better of swapping the car when it's empty, I'd be cheaper!

I buy 20 litre containers of the official BMW screenwash for about £42. They used to sell 20L 'wineboxes' and a separate tap, of which I have bought about 3 over the last decade (all £38-42), but the latest one is a plastic bottle. They also sell 50 litre drums, but that seems a bit OTT.

I started doing this after making the mistake of using a Holts or Halfords type screenwash in an E46 a decade ago which clogged the filter. If I was a cynic, I would say they designed the filter so you had to buy the BMW stuff. I have never had a filter clog with the BMW stuff and we use it on other cars as well.

I usually pay for every 2nd windscreen wash.

If I am close to the dealers I pop in to parts and see about something, while there I get some screen wash, sometimes I pay sometimes it's free.

Be nice to the parts people take them biscuits

I've had no issues with the RainX screen wash over 5 years with my E90 and then F30. Though, this probably costs more than the BMW stuff...

I've got some of the old clear stuff I used in my E92. Suppose my car would have been supplied filled with the new blue stuff so better not mix......?

Coincidentally I had the jets fail on our 2006 z4. Hadn't seen this so had to have a play about before identifying exactly this issue - there was a lot of sludge in the bottom which had blocked the little filter entry to the pipe. Interesting the headlight washer filter was both higher and substantially bigger, so hadn't blocked - which led me astray initially.

Anyway, this is 8 years and 85k before my first problem....
