HELP! Drivetrain Malfunction after dealer visit

Brought my car into the dealer to get a couple trim pieces replaced. Upon pick up, I noticed the OBD2 Plug for the JB4 was undone. No biggy, I plugged it back in and started the car.

...Immediately, I get a Drivetrain Malfunction light. It goes away, I start driving. In the 3 mile commute, the Drivetrain Malfunction notice came on 5 times. Even after I turned off the JB4 tune via the turn-stalk control.

Any idea what they could have done? Would driving it with the OBD2 plug undone cause an issue?

I know I have got a drivetrain malfunction error when first starting the car up after installing JB4. You need to see what is causing the issue.

Might be worth it to completely remove JB4 and drive and see if it persists. If not re-install and see if it comes back. In future I would remove JB4 before any dealer visit. Just in case they update software, etc.

Did you find out what was causing your issue?

It's a common issue when you first drive the car after disconnecting the battery and installing jb4. It happens when I install it at first sometimes.

Ok. So does it go away on its own? Without any further action required ?

As said, DT malfunction will pop up when battery is disconnected and for random reason from time to time, but you seem to have an issue. I would check all the connections in case they made one loose. What was the car in for?

Just to have trim pieces replaced. When I got the car back, they had disconnected the OBD2 plug for the JB4. Wondering if that turned off the system and turned back on when I plugged it back in, effectively doing the same as a battery disconnect?

No it would not. I have taken my car to dealer several times and disconnected the OBDII before. Question is, is why did they disconnect it for trim work? Just to rule out coincidental, check the connections. Worse case, I would take the JB4 off and see if the issue remains and if it does take it back in to them. If it goes away put the tune back on and you will know the variable.

+1 my original advice.

With OBD unplugged the JB4 defaults to map1 / stage1 settings. Wouldn't throw a CEL or anything like that.

Unplugged the flex fuel wiring and returned that part to stock and it seemed to have fixed the problem. I think the Flex Fuel wiring harness is bad.
