Uneven Rear Height after Dinan Spring Install

Hi guys,

I just replaced only the rear OEM springs with Dinans (got late, didn't have time for front) and I noticed the rear passenger side sits lower than the rear driver side. Is this normal?

Give it some time or 100-150 miles. Springs can settle uneven as well. It is not uncommon for one side to be up to 1/8-1/4" off.

How far off? Did you remember to put back in the rubber seat?

Triple checked. Everyone was installed correct. Spring mounts are seated correctly. I'll report back after I drive them for a week or two.

yes this is normal. This is because when you sit in the driver seat to drive it sits even. If they were equal when there was no load the drivers side would sag while driving.

Honestly should sell those dinan springs and purchase A real suspension upgrade. IE full coilovers. Dinan is a rip off and minimally improve anything

I did this same exact search because I'm experiencing the same exact "issue" (if it's even an issue). I'm going to contact Dinan to see if this is expected even after a 4 week settling period.

Sounds like you've double checked everything, but if the problem persists take a look at that rubber piece at the base of the spring. When I installed my coils for the first time I had this problem as well, but visually from the outside everything looked installed correctly. The spring itself was seated in the rubber mount, but the mount was wedged into the hole at a weird angle, so it wouldn't go in all the way. Once I relieved the pressure on the spring I was able to fully seat the mount and then everything was all good.

It appears the consensus (not all by any means) is that the suspension is designed for the Drivers side rear to be about 1/4" higher than passenger rear side when the car unoccupied and not loaded down. With the heavy Battery located in Right rear and gas tank layout. the speculation is that when a "normal" sized driver (no idea what is considered "Normal") gets in, the difference is reduced to minimal. I had a 1/4" difference on my 08 E90 335i and on my 13 F30 335i. So if you are seeing only about a 1/4", i suspect all is good.

That's odd. I've seen it only occur on xdrive f30s. do you have rwd or xdrive and did you get the correct corresponding springs?

Mine is still 1/8-1/4 lower on passenger side after 20,000 miles but doesn't bother me as I know when I'm in it its even.
