Thanks
The white Apple (or equiv) cable from an iPod into a USB connector gives digital playback, thus enabling voice search, album cover display on the car's screen and more. The old Y-cable only gives analogue sound ... still good though.

USB and BT not work with iPhone 7???

Are people having this issue? I connect via USB, and the telephone feature in iDrive simply doesn't work. Every time I try to get to it, it just says that the BT is not connected. This was never an issue on older iPhone 6.

This is super annoying. Anyone have an answer?

I have just purchased a 2016 BMW F87 M" with the older iDrive 5.0 and I too am trying to figure out what is the best option to connect my iPhone 7+

I understand that Bluetooth is the simplest option and works each time I jump into the Car, it also reconnects to the last played track from either the Apple Music playlist, I get album art andworks fine on Tunein Radio. But what are the differences between BT and USB?
