This, a proper detailer is going to have so much more equipment and experience that it's really going to be best to let them do it; when it comes to new paint let a pro do it.

How long does a 500ml bottle last teaston? Can you coat your car once, or a couple of times with that?

I have stopped using wax now as well. I use Gyeon Cancoat is a simple to use ceramic coating which gives a genuine six month life. You can pay more and get longer lasting ceramic coatings but for me a polish, decontaminate and then reapply the coating every six months gives great results. Cost effective too as one can of can coat will do 2 coats three times over. So a £37 can will last 18 months or more.

I have various waxes and sealants and this gives a far, far better shine than anything else i have used. The hydroscopic properties are far better too, water just falls off.

Won't be going back to waxes...........

I'll be honest I'm not going to Clay the car or anything. I'll just give it a nice wash and dry then go in with this. I could use a 50% IPA (which is what I used when I did an opticoat) but that was Before I clayed.

The car looks lovely when washed and I don't mind minor blemishes that I can't even see really so I assume the c2v3 will still be effective even if not at its fullest potential...?

You really should at least compound the car before applying any sealant.

Compound? What does that mean. Please don't make me go to the detailingworld forum again - I'll end up £100s out of pocket on new toys...!

Compound is just polish without any fillers in it like Maguiars ultimate compound. Either do it by hand or with a machine polisher if you have one.

Interesting. Any suggestions on product to use? Also how much is a decent machine polisher?

Oooooh man. This is tempting now. So let me see:

Give it a good wash n dry. Strip it down with some 50%IPA then use the meguiars compound with a machine polisher to correct the swirls then on with the c2v3?

Is that a good machine polisher?

IPA after compounding too.

And make sure you remove any tar spots on the paint work before polishing

That polisher will be perfectly fine for occasional DIY use

Hehe. I totally checked out dual action polishers coz one comment said if you only wanna do cars then use a dual action one and saw this Meguiar's MT320PADKIT Dual Action Polisher Pad Kit https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0169PTT..._8rwbBb037RYP0

But need to exercise some control.

Actually do I need a polish as well then - the meguiars blurb says to use compound then polish then wax. I assume the c2v3 replaces the wax part of it?

No, compounds are too aggressive as a final stage. A compound is basicslly a polish with more cut. After a compounding with a DA you would need to then use a polish to get the fine swirls created by the compound out.

Whether you need to compound or not depends on your paint condition. If its just light swirls from washing then you may only need to apply a polish.

Alternatively you can use an all in 1 like menzerna 3in1, that will get out deeper marks than a polish but also finishes perfectly on hard bmw paint. Top that with c2v3 and you are golden.

From my experience the green chemical guys hex logic pads combined with menzerna 3 in 1 on a DA will leave a perfrct finish on the bmw paint assuming there aren't any heavy marks. Swirls and water spots will be completely removed.

I have the slims DA, which at £90 ish is a great deal.

Wow that's great thanks! Looks like slims have a 10% off at the moment. Which slims da do you have?

The menzerna 3in1 sounds perfect for me!
