Google: 2014 BMW SULEV warranty... I believe thats what I did. The booklet I am viewing is for all 3 / 5 / 7 series with a 2014 model year. |

Spark Plugs?
My son's 2009 e90 328i is at the BMW San Rafael dealer after having rough idle. They said most of the repair (valve cover gasket and coils) would be covered under SULEV warranty. They said the plugs should also be replaced while they have everything dismantled. The plugs were "covered in oil". However I have to pay for the plugs. I see that many people posted that they have had the plugs covered but I do not see them listed anywhere in the BMW SULEV coverage doc.

Yeah, the issue with SULEV is many dealerships (we're talking service advisors, managers even) have no idea WTF it is. I had a leaking vacuum pump a few years ago and the fools had to jump through multiple hoops to learn what the SULEV warranty was. A manager was even saying "you are not covered" then had to backpedal when he learned what SULEV was. Bringing in a copy of the itemized list for your particular model and year helps. And go on these forums to do research to be sure, because coverage for certain things end at 70k or 100k miles, apparently.
I unfortunately have to go back in tomorrow since my gas started leaking out of nowhere today. Thankfully I Googled and found a Bimmerfest thread saying SULEV covers the fuel tank and parts. I am not at 150k yet, so this warranty still helps. |

Hey guys question here, not sure if it’s a dumb question but seeing as how a lot of things are covered like for example the ignition coils, do they have to be completely shot before the dealership can swap them for you, per sulev, or can I just take the car in since it’s almost time to replace them anyways to get them done?
