I have to say the new X3, X5 and now 8 series look amazing externally! Much better than the boring offerings from BMW of late.

And the Z4 too. Finally back on track somewhat. I think the interiors are s bit of a step change now from F series stuff.

As fabulous as these cars are I'm going to go sit in the cheap but perhaps not that crap seats for a while.

Love that 8 series though!

I suppose looking at your car history in your signature you have varied between decent, but run of the mill stuff (520d), and much more exciting stuff (911/M5/M3) over the years.

Do you think that make you appreciate the great cars more when you have them?

I have a colleague who alternates each car change from something cheap and economical with something a bit tastier... says it keeps life more interesting, and when he has a cheaper car they go on much nicer holidays instead!

Yes, there's a note on the you tube page acknowledging the error.

I ran the 520d along side my 911 and if I'm honest never felt short changed getting into the 520d as a place to sit and while away the miles it was a good car. (although I did spec 10k worth of options including the comfort seats and nappa etc...) I've had 4 M3s now as well as the 911 and M5.

Another car I really liked was the Mercedes SL that was lovely but yes I'm thinking a bit like your colleague get into a cheap lease for a couple of years and see what the water is like.

Sorry I've taken this thread way off topic!

Interesting. The problem with 20d’s is once you add the standard equipment of a 30d/35d, plus lower discounts and gfv it’s little to no difference in cost per month.

Anyway, sod getting a cheaper car, better to just work harder if there’s other things you also want money for!

Back then there was hardly any difference in the specs between engine sizes is there today? You get crappy Dakota on a 420d and you get it on a 435d etc...

Not sure about 4 series, but on a 3 series you get metallic paint, auto gearbox, front parking sensors & servotronic steering on 3l but not 2l, so nearly £3k of must have options.

Shame about the rear, to much going on there for my personal taste. Have been thinking about my next whip and a slightly depreciated M8 would of been the perfect fit.

I think this is a great comparison photo with the 6 series coupe, really shows just how much better the 8 looks, especially the smaller rear quarter windows, more muscular shoulder lines & shorter rear overhang.

Every time I look at the car, it looks even better! Even the SE picture doesn't look too bad.

I hadn't seen that. It does look good, kind of similar to the Aventador S front bumper!
