Wink

dont have photos ...

but I will leave you with this for compensation :
NSFW : Neither are mine though
because She is not really my taste .... (the car that is )

============================================

As far as updates, i got to sign the official Purchase Order with the CA/ED specialist at the dealership yesterday!

She checked my ID/Passports, and proof of insurance for when the car will arrive to the local dealership after all the transportation ordeal... which wont' happen until at least Mid June... but i am getting ahead of myself..

Next step is the financial negociation and agreement in 3 weeks...

Until then, the Ball is starting to roll now...

Did i mention the confirm ED date: April 12th in the morning!! A month and 4 days away !!

PS EDIT: Having been the to dealeaship yesterday @ the end of the day, i finally saw the Imperial Blue on the F30,
and my complain is : this color is very flat !! It looks at if this is those Japanese dark Blue Mica! No bling as it would be...
especially knowing that this is supposed to be Xirallic! ... I might be mistaken (refer to the photos on page 1 during the Monterey Press Presentation...)

But looking at the Imperial Blue Thread
I think it will look great under the sun,
My guess is that: this car will also look good under projector lights or at night with light reflection...

I think the E46 Orient Blue is a nicer color...

Hopefully i will change my mind after getting the F30

Last edited by DrivenByE30; 03-08-2012 at 04:05 PM.. Reason: color not as pretty ... :(

I am not sure if Radar detector is legal in some country, I didn't bring my V1, you can drive unlimited speed in Germany autobahn (Just have to watch the sign and determine which section) otherwise there are FIXED speed camera which not going to do good with V1, just don't drive faster then the local people once you leave Germany. Usually they will use Radar gun on local road near small town but rarely you see cops pulling people over for speeding in the autobahn (as they use fixed speed camera). One sign to watch is that you will notice when people pass you over 110 mph and then slow down and drive 80mph in some section for no reason.. they know where the camera are :-)

Also have some cash on you, I got pull over in my 1st ED when I was in Austria and got speeding ticket (small town) which I have to pay CASH to the cops on the spot :-) $70 euros.. In my second ED, driving on the Autobahn in Germany I got pull over in my M3 as a unmarked 5 series cut infront of me and with a sign light up "POLIZEI" I have to follow him to the next rest stop. As they always pull over people with Tourist plate with High end car making sure the car is not stolen, after 15 minutes, checking VIN, my passport and docs from BMW they let me go and said Nice car..

In regards to delivery time, just go there in the morning, check in and tell them you want to do the delivery in the afternoon after Museum and Factory tour, they will able to switch the time earlier or later as needed. Not to worry about the time they scheduled you for. The english factory tour is at 11:30am and you can get there around 10am check in have snacks (FREE) and do the factory tour and museum then come back for your delivery later in the afternoon.

Thumbs up

Thanks for your MUCH VALuable information and tips!! Hats to you wmo168!

At this point in time, i think i am going to save myself a few penny by delaying my purchase of the V1...

I will basically try my hardest i could to follow the road signs and the flow of traffic... (i have no problem going fast, but it's very difficult to be driving slow for me, especially with a 335i... But since my Dad will be part of the trip, i will let him enjoy the car too)

I will not bring cash, one more reason not to drive over the speed limit in small towns and outside of germany... and further more with breaking in the engine and the whole car... i will mostly try to make as many pictures as possible in different spots..

As for rescheduling the delivery! i will most certainly follow your advice!
that should give them time to fit in wheel locks for me
(i will try to ask them for complimentary wheel locks, since i will be driving in Paris... last time i check, BMW are fast cars, but they dont hover yet)

Thanks again

Going to reserve hotels now....

I guess I missed that part on the previous page or I would've let you know as well.

He is right, most of the countries you're visiting do not allow the use of radar detectors, and what's more, the cops in several of those countries actually carry 'radar detector-detector's on board of their cars. You don't want to be pulled over and pay a hefty some in cash on the spot (or get your vehicle taken away, which is what can happen to foreigners in some countries if they cannot pay the cash fine. I have seen this happen quite a few times on European reality-tv shows when I lived there (kind of like cops, with a cameraman in the car)).

I have driven in France already,
i've lived in France, and
actually was born in France ... so...
but i do welcome any particular new/strange things you might have noticed during your drive there... Again i know the toughest thing for me would be to obey all the speed limits...

You probably kept it easy on the freeway... I am planning to visit the French/Italian Riviera over two days (Monaco, Cannes, Nice, St Tropez)

At this point in time, i am short on days, and with too many places i want to visit... I need at least 20 days... but my i am also running out of days off at work :P I am already very lucky for my boss to approve my 3 weeks off vacations... I would be abusing a bit much if i ask for another week

Thanks for your Confirmation SVache, my mom has told me something about the RDDs, but back then (a year ago) i was a bit skeptical that she heard it right...
but still, being an engineer myself, i didn't think it was far fetched...
especially knowing how the French government has been tracking down (and collecting) on road rules infractions for the past 7 years... it wouldn't surprise me.

Still up until today, i never was sure that French police would have the capabilities, ... Thanks for the link Svache!

I will try to be a law abiding citizen... now that i am well above that maturity age of 30 ...

Sadly enough they have this technology for at least 6-7 years now. Like you, I was very skeptical they would have this but it was in the news quite a few times, and also on those tv shows, that they actually had this technology. Made me get rid of my own detector.

Technically it's not such a weird technology. In order to detect a radar, it needs to send out a signal, and the detector-detector simply has to catch that signal. Kind of like how sonar works, I imagine

I think you will love Imperial Blue in the sun. Looks great from these pics:
http://www.f30post.com/forums/showpo...7&postcount=26

I am getting the same color in 335 Sport Line and am coming from Orient Blue E46 as well.

BTW, My ED is scheduled 1 month after yours - 11-May pickup and also planning Nice dropoff. Be sure to keep us up to date on how you car is getting along on the way back to the states so I can use it to estimate my re-delivery timeline from Nice (a bit worried it may take longer than Munich dropoff).

Still haven't reserve my hotels!

Well there it is...

...finally some progress

The site seem to have omitted the 19" 401 wheels on the spec...

should i worry about it, or is it enough that the picture shows it...?

I am confident they will put the 401 on by the time i take delivery of it!

I think i am going to give a call to BMW to find out what is the status now :P
Anyone knows which 800 number that is please ?

3 weeks of waiting from now on...

No worries, as with almost every aspect, the tracking system also fails in that part lol. My car showed up as a complete different color for a short while, and many others have similar things. In the end the car will show up as it should be

Btw, the 800 number is 1-800-831-1117

Getting close to ED, must be exciting

As i am 10 days away from my trip and most importantly from Delivery,

There will be updates coming in later on today

First of all:
My car has been completed since last week during the last week of March

and now it's patiently waiting for me to come pick it up at the Welt

Second:
I will be going to sign the financial contract with BMW etc etc... i am not sure what it is yet... most likely settling on the price of the car, and putting giving them the down payment...

SVache, you just did something similar right ?? how did it go ?? PM if necessary

Aw, DrivenbyE30, you're making me drool now.

Is ED only for US customers? Does anyone know if it's also available to Asian buyers?

I will be in Munich in June (shortly after my 328 is scheduled to be produced), and it would awesome to take delivery there and first drive it on German autobahns.

But I'd also need to check whether the build is in Germany or in S. Africa as someone (E90Fleet?) suggested it would be.
