New Limp Mode Poll for F30 335i Msport

http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=786475

Please see description of Limp Mode in the above thread (post number 1) before voting:

New cases have come up so thought we should do this again. The reason I am setting this up is to establish if the %s have increased from the last poll we did. If I remember correctly we were at about 44% on the last poll. Now we have new 335i msport owners as well as new reports of limp mode. Hopefully the % is decreasing but lets see how this new poll plays out

Please note this only affects Msport 335s, no other F30 is affected by this

For those lucky guys who got their previous msports replaced due to limp mode, I think you should vote "No", who cares about the old car right

How about accurately labeling this instead of the generic "limp mode" verbiage? The original thread is a train wreck because folks are confused.

And I'm not sure I understand the rationale for starting over with this.

That's not limp mode though, the one we are referring to. I guess Bavarian.... was right.

Let me see if I can change the title

Is it safe to say the limp mode you are looking for, 300hp, is present with no warning lights or alerts via iDrive. Might also want to list the symptoms such as constant aux fans running full throttle, engine temps drop to close to 160*, no revs above 3k rpms regardless of gear.

Thanks, I have updated post number 1 above based on your input.

These are all the symptoms I had 2 days in a row. Been at the dealer for 4 weeks and nobody knows when a replacement will be in from Germany.

Well I had limp for the firs time last night...The fan did not get excessively loud, nor was I unable to pass 3k rpms...It just would barely move, although the needle would pass 3k rpms. Quick on and off and it was gone. No warnings popped up as well.

I think that people who've had limp mode previously should still vote "yes". Just because they haven't had limp mode with their new car, doesn't mean they never will. You'd be ignoring a sizable demographic.

I think the OP should maybe update the poll to 335i Msports w/ 6MT; not many 8AT have had the problem (if any).

ATs are affected too but I suspect it's more so due to using the paddle shifters. You increase your chances but this is just my speculation

How often do you shift manually?

My speculation is shifting manually increases the chances of limp mode. The proof is tough to come by though

Not true, my wife never uses the paddle shift, plus I was using the car going back and forth to work when it happened to me, and I was driving like a grandma since I was in military traffic after work.

Not implying aggressive driving causes limp mode, I am a pretty aggressive driver myself. However I think I have avoided it (for now) because I rarely shift by myself. I have probably used the paddle shifters on like 5 occasions in the 9 months I have owned the car.

Anyway, this is mere speculation by one person so it amounts to nothing really. One of us will probably narrow this down to the real cause.

I'm the same as you. We never used the paddle shifters. Maybe 2 times in the 4 months we owned the car.
