First service on 2017 440
The car shows it needs its first service at 10k. This is not a problem for me last car 2010 G37 needed an oil change every 3750 but 10K seems like a long time before first service. I looked at service manual but that booklet is extremely veg.

You need to drive it faster so the oil change will be sooner.

I think 10k is too long, too. I usually schedule mine every 5k and the dealer has no problem honoring, including a loaner car etc. I guess it depends on preference and dealer.

If you understand modern synthetic oils then you will understand why a 10k service interval is not a big deal. Changing it more often is like replacing brake pads when they are only half worn. It's not necessarily a bad thing for reliability, but it doesn't improve it either.

My cars wants new oil every 7500 miles. I drive sport mode 99% of the time.

My 17 440 prompted me for the first service at around 8500 km's. I think it's either the mileage or time the computer is set at to prompt for service.

Regardless of miles, the car will always want an oil change once every 12 months at least. Even if you only drive 100 miles a month, it will want an oil change a year after the last one

yep. but again, that's based on the performance of modern synthetic oils. i also come from cars that typically had a 3 month/3k mile oil change interval, so 12 months/10k miles seems like a stretch. but synthetic oils in modern engines with proper oil cooling/filtration don't break down that easily.

I think it's good to keep in mind that BMW recently increased the oil change interval from 15000 to 10000. I think they recognized how hard turbochargers are on oil, even synthetic oil. I've always done 7500 mile oil changes, but with turbos I go to 5000. It's cheap insurance. Make sure your air filter is clean too and that'll keep your oil cleaner.

I believe the first service is earlier? To get rid of all the metals/ residues inside the engine. My car asked me for an oil change at 5600 miles...
