Not true. You can close the windows by touching the button on the door handle if you have comfort access--no coding necessary. You can't do it with the fob, though.
Good to know because I haven't coded mine! Sunroof too?

I ran out just to test the windows; and thank you

I can with my fob.. but I may have coded that. Can't recall the full list of things I enabled via coding.

If you have standard access the windows and sunroof will open if you hold down the unlock button, and close if you hold down the lock button, no coding required. You have to code it with CA. On the wagon, GT and GC you can code the fob and driver's door frame hatch open buttons to close it as well. Why that's not the default arrangement is a puzzlement.

So, I just had a 330 loaner. I found it interesting that the turn signal and wiper stalks function differently than my 328. In my car, when you activate the turn signal, the stalk immediately snaps back to the middle position. Same with the wipers--you push up a little or a lot to put the wipers in slow or fast mode, and the stalk snaps back to the middle.

But the 330 is more conventional, like every other car I have ever driven. Turn signal stays up or down until your turn is completed. If you push the wiper stalk up once, it's in Auto mode (no more button) and stays there, even when you shut the car off, and then turn it back on.

I wonder why the change?

Weird. The 340 still behaves the way you describe, so that isn't an across the board change.

Side note: On my car, the 'auto-off' for the full turn signal is too 'sensitive'. More precisely, there doesn't seem to be an 'overrun' required before turning back before the turn signal turns off. This causes the turn signals to turn off repeatedly if there is a minor curve while approaching a turn. I turn them on, I have the wheel turned maybe 15-20 degrees from center, and turn it slightly back due to the way the road is curved.. turn signal turns off. I turn it back on, repeat... (or, I don't notice it turned off since there's no 'click' of the stalk returning). In cars with the locking stalk, they typically require you turn the wheel an extra 15-20 degrees PAST the reset point before the reset point is 'armed'. This prevents a lot of this behavior.

My 2016 330e behaves the same way as Araemo's 2017 340i.

It's a 2018 change, also noted in the release notes for 2018 models

My loaner had 12 miles on it, so I thought it was a '17--I guess it was an '18. Seems odd to spend $$ on those changes, though. Maybe unifying parts with the new 5-Series and 7-Series?

even though i've never driven with the setup to know how it is in day to day use, i feel like it would be annoying. i saw it in a Drive episode where Matt Farrah basically said that stalks have been the same forever and they are the same in every other car, so it makes no sense that bmw would change it to begin with.

Even worse is the Alfa stalk that returns to center and you can't cancel the turn signal if you hit it by mistake.

It really didn't take very long to get used to it, and now when I drive my wife's Mazda, the turn signal seems weird.

Yeah. The BMW implementation is actually a bit nicer than the VW/Audi implementation. Theirs doesn't 'return to center' every use, but canceling their 'comfort' (1-5 blink) turn signal isn't possible. Canceling the BMW one is. I just wish they included hysteresis for steering angle based turn signal shut-off, like every other car I've ever driven.

Found out today that if you double tap the unlock button on the remote, the windows open to allow easier access in the 4-series.

Not sure if noted before, but thought it was a cool find!

The E92 has this as well, in the F32/3/6 this will happen every time you open the door until you start the car, so if you need to get out again the window will lower itself half-way again.

I only discovered the telescopic steering wheel adjustment the other day, took mine to the dealer to have the charge cooler replaced, got back in and the steering wheel seemed a little further away than normal. It took me a few minutes of adjusting my seat to realise that I might try to adjust the steering wheel too.

Unlatching the rake adjustment arm, and then pulling (or pussing) the wheel into or away from the dash. Cool features for those with arms of abnormal proportions

When manually shifting (via the paddle shifters) if you hold the right paddle for approximately 2-3 seconds, the transmission returns to drive.

......the only reason I bring this up now, would be due to the fact that this feature is not functional on our X5 with SAT (MY 14), nor was it enabled on my '15 4 Series Gran Coupe or my '16 3 series equipped with the same transmission.

Interesting. Ny 2013 335i with Steptronic/Paddles does not do that either in Sport or Comfort.

On my 2017 340i xDrive, pulling on right paddle for 1-2 secs will return it into D if it was in a gear previously selected by paddle shift. Pulling on left paddle for 1-2 secs will downshift into lowest gear possible.

It's a 2017 change. When I picked up my F31 in Munich the delivery guy advised me of the change. He said most BMW driver's disliked the stalk always bouncing back to center position and caused driver confusion to learn. Therefore the axed it.

I had the new style in my 2013 X3 and it did take me a bit to get comfortable with it but fine once I had.

I'm indifferent about the function but the old way does seem better functionally.

I know this is on here buried on somewhere, but the favorite thing I've learned this year is the extra push that opens the sunroof as much as possible. Let the sunroof open completely and then push back the button/slider again and you'll get an extra bit of sunshine.

There is also a button on the trunk itself to open it.

In another thread I learned the 1-8 buttons could be programmed as anything.

Anyone else find other interesting/neat things?

Hold down traction control until t says DSC off - you’ll disable all drivers assistance and really get a feeel for the car.
