I have wrappt my roof matt black, and it wasn't hard to remove the fin.
Use a very sharp razor and be careful when you do it. It's no problem!

Just tape the roof around the antenna to avoid scratching and use the blade to cut through the rubber. Hold the blade under sharp angle. It took me less than 10 min to take it off with no scratches.Name: IMG_1325.JPG

Which type of adhesive would one use to put the shark fin back on?

People here are braver than I am. No way I'd take a knife to a new BMW roof! Still trying to figure out why one would want to do that in any event.

I am, however, curious, as to how one can reattach the antenna without making globs of adhesive visible. Is there a replaceable gasket/seal or does one need to use a messy liquid?

Sooooo you would never do it but you'd like to know how to reattach it? Lol.... I'm sure just some standard 3m emblem tape would work fine.

Removing the antenna is not something I'd do (don't really see a need), yet am curious as to how it would be reattached. Always good to pick up knowledge as one never knows what may come in handy. For example, I recently watched a "how to disassemble an F30 door" video dealing with new speakers. I don't intend to install new speakers, but would like to know how the door comes apart.

Can someone suggest the adhesive to use to glue the fin back on once removed? Looking at having it wrapped, but worried that the wrong adhesive will let water in and cause issues (as others have reported). Any P/N would be greatly appreciated! I'm in Canada -- hoping whatever it is will be available here

Sorry to revive a slightly old thread but I thought I'd update this with a short video regarding the Shark Fin install from factory. It appears that it is installed by hand on the floor after the antenna has been fastened. Skip forward to timing point of approximately 1:40 and you will see.

I had my roof wrapped professionally last year, but today after getting a car wash, I saw water dripping from the roof lining inside my car onto the seats.

2 questions:
1- What damage could possibly have been caused at this point with water presumably accumulating inside the roof living? And what should I do at this point to ensure nothing bad happened?
2- Not sure what adhesive the guy used for my car, but obviously it wasn't good enough. What do you guys recommend putting to seal up the shark fin properly/permanently?
