I thoroughly enjoy the ride and am very pleased with the passive m-sport suspension. Tire upgrades to a non-RFT will also drastically improve the ride quality as well.
The only reason I would say the DHP is a must in this case is because the xDrive F3X has the standard suspension, regardless of Sportline or M-Sport. I truly regret getting an M-Sport xDrive without knowing it doesn't have any type of sport suspension or adaptive suspension... I would trade my Cold Weather Package for that in a heartbeat, I'm dying for a sportier suspension. Also, CWP is unnecessary in California lol.
I missed that part about the xDrive. Then DHP is a must.

On a side note, the way you feel about missing out on the DHP is how I feel about missing out on the sports automatic transmission. I thought the only difference was the paddles. I'd pay $500 just for that fat shifter and leather boot. Maybe next bimmer.

Thanks

Thanks for the input! M-sport it is.

Of course, if I follow all of the great advice here, think I'm checking pretty much every box on the options list. That should be fun. Plus I think I'll end up ordering a 2015, so that leather dash is on the list too...

I do like the Estoril Blue color, but I'm done with "blue" for the time being (current car is blue, bike is blue, boat is blue, son's car is blue...). I'm looking at Mineral Grey or Black Sapphire. Truth be told I'd like to go with Melbourne Red, but my wife has veto'ed that as being "Mid-Life Crisis" Red.

Actaully, I believe the shifter knob is bigger for the standard Auto 8-Speed. The Sport Auto has a slightly different design though, not as bulky. I've felt both, but the leather is a nice touch...

I'd recommend finding someone to code your car or learning how to ride yourself. The Sport Auto Tranny is mainly software-based. You can enable it yourself if you can code your BMW. It will give you much faster shifts (0.2 secs/per shift), Sport+ if you don't already have it, and Launch Control. The shifts pull so hard and feel incredible when using Launch Control!

Question about the M-sport brakes though in the context of this being a DD including Winters. When I click the M-sport brake option in the online configurator, it appears to automatically bump the spec to 19" wheels. That seems like a bargain for $650 to the cost, however, knowing I need to get winters, is that going to limit me to a 19" winter tire/wheel package?

I feel like a lot of people are giving themselves WAY too much credit for a unique color or line-trim for their cars in this thread.

It makes them feel special, as if the car is any different from the tens of thousands of no-line 328is driven by non enthusiasts.

Everyone that sees my F30 M sport loves the design of the bumper and the headlights. I can't tell ya how many E9X M3 drivers give compliments about the headlights especially. BMW really knocked it out of the park with the Msport overall as a package. Car looks badass.

That's odd, as 18s should fit just fine. (I have them on my F34 with M Sport brakes.)

They do up the speed limiter to 155 MPH, which requires summer tires. Maybe they only offer 18" wheels with all-season tires?

Actually the CWP is nice for me on the cold mornings here in L.A.

Use mine as a DD. Only drawback is I have no self control. I'm always in Sport+ so my MPG sucks! Lol.

I drove the M4 and loved it... but that would have serious drawbacks as a daily driver.
  1. Gas mileage sucks.
  2. Lease payment would increase by 150%.
  3. Insurance rates would go up due to "high performance" rating.
  4. Insurance rates would go up even more because I couldn't resist temptation to speed.
  5. I'd feel like a poser if I didn't do trackdays at least once a month.

I wound up with a Black Sapphire 435i with M Sport package and couldn't be happier. It doesn't have adaptive suspension, but the sport setting is still plenty comfortable.

Traction control apparently won't work until I hit the 1200 mile mark.

Tire Rack keeps telling me I need to run 19" at the rear for the configuration on my car. However, I have no problem running with 225/40 19s for winter.

Without a doubt M Sport!! I was waivering on this a few months ago, thinking I liked the Sportline rims better and wanting the Imperial blue. I switched to M-Sport last minute and man am I glad. I actually like the 400 rims better(although 4 series M Sport has different wheels), and I love the fascia package. Makes the car so much meaner. And don't forget, M-Sport steering wheel!! You will never be able to drive another wheel

DHP is a yes for Xdrive.

And I recall someone here saying they got the M-Sport brake package and was credited with some money because they chose the 18" wheels instead of auto upgrading to 19's. Not sure if every dealer would do this, but doesn't hurt to ask.

I vote to dump XDrive since you are getting winter tires.
