Screw in Tire Tread
Just noticed a screw in the tread of my run flat summer tire! So annoying as I've only had the car for 7 months and only driven 3500km. Does anyone know if BMW Canada covers this repair????

Only if you have the extra rim and tire protection package. My dealer tells me that they don't repair run flats only replace them. But you can go to any tire shop and they will fix it. I had a run flat fixed on my mini a few weeks ago. Its a very inexpensive fix.

Yep, done it before too - nobody wants to touch a run-flat tire unless you REALLY insist and sign a waiver. Make sure the screw is straight and in the middle of the tread, if it's not, you might need to replace the tire. Also, do NOT let it run out of air/pressure, if it's a slow leak keep some pressure in it. If you drive with a completely deflated tire, you'll end up damaging the sidewalls - if you absolutely need to drive it, you can do so (they're runflats after all) but no more than 80 km/h IIRC.
Do you have OEM Pirellis? If so, they have a comprehensive road hazard warranty which might mitigate the cost of a tire replacement (prorata calculation). More info here: http://www.pirelli.com/mediaObject/p...atWarranty.pdf

Yes the car came with Pirelli tires. See the attached pic of the screw. Do I contact Pirelli directly?

Oh. Not sure I would risk it at that position. I think you have to go through your dealer, how long have you had the car?

I got a screw in my tire after 3 days of owning my car. Called the tire manufacturer and they had no warranty to cover this. The dealer however patched it and waved the repair charge.

It's an easy do it at home fix. Just get a tire plug kit and you can fix it in 10 mins max. Did this last year on my wife's RFTs. Her's was actually a bolt and probably caused an even larger hole than that screw.

The Pirelli road hazard warranty should cover you. I had a similar situation earlier this year (tire was only 4 months old). I called Pirelli and they said any authorized Pirelli dealer could replace the tire for me under warranty. I went to Kal-Tire, they didnt believe me so I had them call Pirelli to confirm. In the end, Pirelli confirmed for Kal-Tire that the warranty existed and gave them instructions on how to submit the warranty claim. I got a brand new tire at no charge.
