OBD iPhone Software
Has anyone tried one of the many OBD readers offered in the app store on their F30?
Does anyone have a particular favorite? RevLite? GoPoint? DashCommand? |

After I saw your post I was wanting to see what people said too. I know of some friends that have androids with an OBD program, but none with iPhones.

I'm going to start playing with some in the next few days. I'm going to get a hold of Kiwi WiFi first (possibly a v2) and see how it goes.
I have Dashcommand for my iPad 1.0 and used to try to make it work with OTC-2 in my SKY, but it never worked for me so I sold it a week before I purchased my 328i. Personally I don't care if the OTC-2 is the best unit in the world for my 328i their lack of support and total disregard for customers put it on my 'no way in heck' list. If I didn't need it I'd pull my LC-1 out and sell it too.. Done with Innovate. One thing that has me wondering is what exactly is the communication protocol for the 328i. I have seen people communicate with an Ethernet cable for reprogramming the modules, but I assume it's CAN bus. I guess I could use my EFILive in pass through mode and see if it communicates since it supports CAN bus..

Per svache it's definitely a can network based system. But I think that's only for access to the computer. I'm assuming the OBD2 system is just a standard link.

I did some brief researching a few months ago and came across BlueDriver. It seems to have decent ratings. I have not used it myself, just wanted to throw an option out there for you.

I'm considering buying it. But read from the support page, seems there's problem with BMW. I also have 328i F30. |

On-Board Diagnostics. Generally speaking, cars come with a standard connection through which you can determine certain vehicle faults, and other items. |

I'm not sure about the iPhone products, but I imagine they require a special cable with one end having the OBD connector as described above, and the other having the 30-pin (or now lightning) connector for the iPhone. Actually - it looks like a number of devices have a wireless sending unit that connects to the OBD port, and the software resides on your iPhone or iPad and connects wirelessly to the OBD reader. Now look what you've done!
I ordered an ELM327 WiFi OBD II reader from China via eBay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...E:L:OC:US:3160 I also intend to use DashCommand, but I'll wait to order that until the device arrives. https://itunes.apple.com/app/dashcom...321293183?mt=8 |
