New Navigation System not Coming to Canadian F30s in 2013 Model Year

....those among us (3 series sedan July to Oct production purchasers) who were scratching their head as to the fact that Nov. production 3 series sedans would have an improved navigation system can take that off their 'list' ( if it ever was there to begin with.....)

BMW Canada has confirmed for me that the New Navi system will not be making its way into the '13 model year 3 series sedan (Except Active Hybrid) in Canada. Some countries will get it in November, but Canada will not be among them.......

Yeah I have read that and seen the videos but I don't know enough about the current system to know what's so much better.

How embarrassing will it be fr Canadian people going for ED and getting their car at the same time as an American or European who has the new nav.

American: "What did you pay?"
Canadian: "10 grand more than you for the same car but with older technology. Oh and I didn't get a ED discount"

What a f\/cking joke.

I didn't mean you (or any of our fellow posters). I'm talking about the product planners. What are they thinking?!

My apologies for the explosive comment. But I can't stand this. I want the new iDrive system but some paper pusher in Richmond Hill decided against it for some obscure reason. Same goes for M Sport on the 328i. Americans can get it on their "base" model but we can't (we used to be able to special order it)...

That or the OP got erroneous info, which is still a possibility. I can't think of any reason why they would do this - but then again anything can happen, I read a memo from an Audi Canada product manager stating Audi Connect would not be available in Canada at all for the facelifted A4/allroad, meaning that Audi customers would have to wait 3-4 years before being on par with other countries technology-wise.

Do we know this for a FACT? Seems odd from a assembly perspective. Why intentionally use different parts on the assembly line (leads to inefficiencies)? What's your source?

Came straight from the folks over at BMW Canada and was also told to me by my dealer when I enquired about whether or not I could 'special order it'

Language used by BMW was that it would definitely not be in November production and would be very unlikely to make it in the '13 model year. Dealer also said not in '13 model year.

I agree ........ Really odd from a production stand point!?!?!?!?

I would appreciate second fact check though!!!!

Well, why can Canada order M-sport brakes as a factory option, but US consumers can not?

Seems they do this with many things.

This is an "upgrade" option - revenue enhancement, as opposed to standard equipment.

Sounds like they don't want you to change your order.

Did you just call BMW Canada or do you have a contact?

Yeah, so pay a jacked up base price and on top of that, get less car for the money. I'd like to meet the assholes at BMW Canada who make these decisions and kick em in the balls. This kind of bullshit is enough to make me look at another brand.

Well - I officially received confirmation that another dealer has picked up my August build (as I put in a request to cancel it and move it to November given the iDrive announcement). If I did all this for nothing.... I am going to be SUPER pissed!!!!

I would be interested in finding out how the hell do they actually do this? Like in the factory in Munich or Leipzig do they manufacture cars with the old iDrive and ship to Canada while the new ones are shipped somewhere else ?!?!?

That sounds stupid to me, two production lines creating the same product one with old and one with new iDrive.

Maybe the Canadian dealers will be getting all their allocations from the July, August, September and October builds?

Who knows....cuz I mean, if you customorder a 2013 in January, I guess they need to build it with the current hardware.

Maybe the new nav system is all programming and no hardware. If that's the case, it would be done when it gets to Canada. I know that if you get Euro delivery, the europe maps are loaded at the factory in Germany, and switching it to the Canada maps is part of the prep before you get delivery back home.

BMW Canada probably just said "We're good. We'll stick with the old system for anotehr year. No need to retrain our programming guys on the new system or bother giving our custimers what they pay for."

I spoke to the manager of Customer relations who sought advice from one of the Higher ups........

Second opinion confirmed yet?
