Coding F36

Hi I am looking to code my new F36 and wanted to know exactly what I need?

I have coded my previous cars and had a bluetooth OBD2 connector, would this be sufficient to connect to the car? If not, what is a cheap recommended connector?

Also, if I was to sell the car in the future, could I reset all changes to default?

Lastly, where can I find a good software as well as a guide for the different codes?

Depends on how sophisticated you want to get with your coding. Carly is a very easy approach to code a variety of things, but it doesn't offer the full capabilities that Esys does. Go to the Carly website and see what you can code for F30s.

I use the Bimmercode app on my iPhone with a Wifi to OBD adapter.
http://www.bimmercodeapp.com/

The app has a demo mode that shows you all the stuff you can code. It's quite a bit.

Also, there is a separate sub-forum for coding here:
http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=429
So much info your head will explode!

The cheapest, and in my opinion best, is to use Esys (its free).

Best bet would be to have a look through the coding section of the forum.

You should also check the UK regional forum as there are quite a few guys who "code" active.

Good luck.

I have a bluetooth ODB2 adapter - think it is an ELM327 model. Would this be sufficient?

Maybe, only way to find out is load up Esys and see if it can connect.

I use this cable.

I don't want to be making new threads every time I have a new question so I gathered I would ask in here. I want to make some changes to my new F36 (when it arrives). It has professional media option but not the enhanced bluetooth option. Would my car be able to get the enhanced bluetooth option via coding? I've read elsewhere about needing a combobox so wasn't sure if my new car would be compatible.

Don't know if your wireless OBD2 interface will work. If it doesn't work most people here use a $20 ENET cable which connects the OBD2 port to a laptop ethernet jack.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ethernet-In...enet+bmw+cable

Then just get all the free software along with some instructions here:

The other forum where you can get coding help is here:

Now that I have the cable, does anyone know where I can get the required files and cheat sheets that are compatible with my F36 LCI?

In order to code in Enhanced Bluetooth you'll need to have a laptop, Esys, Esys launcher (Costs $50 USD), psdzdata files and time to learn this stuff so you don't screw it all up. All of this information can be found in the Coding forums.

I read in the coding section that Esys was no longer working.
