DRL when unlock?

Do the DRL come on when you unlock the car or does it require ignition first?

Let's say I'm walking towards the car during the day and unlock it, do the DRLs come on?

Yes, as long as the automatic lights switch is left on, they will come on with the tail lights too.

What do you mean by they will come on with the tail lights too?

I want the DRLs to come on without the tail lights during the day. Doesn't the tail lights only come on when the HID is on?

you are asking two different questions. first you said when you unlock the car, now you are asking about them during the day? i don't understand. if you are driving during the day, only the DRL are on, hence why they are called daytime running lights.

What do you think I mean? Both DRL's (Angel Eyes/Corona Rings) and tail lights will illuminate on unlock with the light dial switched to automatic.

When driving, the DRL's only will be illuminated.

How difficult can you make such a simple question?!

You can't assume that a description of a UK-market car will apply to a US-market car. And many BMW's (including mine) are default coded to display both front DRL's and taillights when DRL's are selected. If that's the case with yours, why would you possibly object to it?

As welcome lights the corona rings and eyebrows are as per the sidelights.

However the brighter DRL corona rings can be coded as welcome lights if you want.

Okay so both DRL (corona rings) and tail lights come on when unlocking the car both during the day and night. And tail lights turn off only during the day when you drive off but stay on at night?

When you drive at night the headlights are on and the taillights along with them obviously.

Manual: When parking the vehicle, leave the switch in auto or low-beam: the parking and interior lamps light up briefly when the vehicle is unlocked.

What are parking lamps?

And no my car is arriving next week.
