Door sill plates getting white?

Hi guys, I noticed the black door sill plates are beginning to turn white in certain area. I've tried to clean them using all sorts of mild cleaners and soaps but nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

I used a bit of silicone solution and it seems to help.

Try Mother's Back To Black, available at most auto parts stores. It's designed to restore black plastic trim to original condition; has worked great for me on previous cars with black bumper strips, etc.

The thing is I only clean them when I wash my car so I am not using an aggressive cleaners. I have applied some Gtechniq surface protection which I have done on all my other cars' plastic bits without this problem.

So is the plastic doomed to have these white spots or is there something I can do to restore it?
