I drove a 340i around for a week while my 335i was in the shop getting the charge pipe replaced. Yes the cars are VERY nice and are fast enough in stock form for most people.

However, when you tell people that they cost that much they immediately loose their appeal. I think a price of around $50k is far more reasonable, but $70k is just too much IMO.

Not to mention that I paid around $38k for my 335i CPO and I can say that the 340i is not nearly twice the car. Faster? Yes. Worth almost $30k more? No way.

2017 340i with MSport (MSport is a "No charge" option for 2017) can be purchased for about 43~43.5 when picking it up in Munich via Euro Delivery. I think getting this car for under 45K makes absolute sense.

Of course, the site is all buggy because it was just updated for the '17s, but that looks about right.

Just a scummy dealer. How do they have a 4.8 Star review with 400 reviewers? I just hope it's a misprint (by $10,000).

Because $38,000 with sales tax puts the actual sales price of your car in the $35,000 range. Which is 25% off of a 340i with no options. Which is an almost unheard of deal, even for a demo.

Yeah, I know I got extremely lucky tons of additional factor occured to make it happen. Either way I still see demo and loaner at the 40,000 - 42,000 range in my area. So I'm just informing the TC that they can easily save 15-30 thousand by checking local use inventory for demos and loaners.

Ive always had a fear of buying demos/loaners since i like to keep my cars for more than 5 years. Those are the ones that always gets abused.

I went to an auto event in Longisland and Was given the opportunity to drive a demo FRS. The rep asked if i wanted to do donuts with the car since there were several others before me who did.

Just wouldnt sleep comfortable knowing the engine is most likely not broken in properly nor is the car going to last long term without any issues.

You may have gotten a smoking deal, but I really don't see that as translating to "easily" saving $15k - $30k buying a loaner. Sorry--that's just not the case. Your extreme case aside, I would call $15k off for a loaner pretty much the max, at best.

$70K for a car with a proper transmission and pedal layout in 2016 is a good deal in my book.

These 6MTs are as common as unicorns. Even the new Corvettes are down to 22% manual transmissions. #SaveTheManuals

Alpine white
Dakota red leather
19 inch 403m
Heated seats
Sensors + rear camera
Alpine white painted front splitter
Black kidney grills
M sport package

I ended up going dealer by dealer and requesting break downs. I would then go to another dealer and ask them to beat what I was given (some dealers weren't even close to match because I ended up with floor salesman). Also, car gurus helps too. You can see how long the car has been for sale and get an idea that they might need to push it out.

For me at least, I ended up working with the main guy at the dealer (not the sales man maybe he's called a GM). I didn't go through a salesman. The salesman only did my paper work. I remember talking to the guy over the phone and he said, look I need to get rid of this car, come in. Maybe that was the case?

If possible, avoid the floor salesman.

There was one other person here that I saw that got even a better deal than I did (might have been the bimmerfest forum). I will try to find it and send to you

30k was in reference to the 70k price the TC looking at.

Might have been me
38k demo unit with 5k miles
RWD
Automatic
Alpine
Leather white seats
Cold weather package
Park assist
Tech package

No track or special steering wheel but I'm not going to the race tracks so I was okay with that.

Looks like this car got to $70k mostly because of the wheels. MSRP on mine was into the $60s once you accounted for all the M Performance accessories I added. I do generally agree that a RWD 340i spec'd out like mine would be a bit curious because it's getting pretty close to F80 territory (though an F80 spec'd out as I'd like it would push into the $70s for sure). But for those shopping in the F80 range but set on 6MT/AWD it can make sense in xDrive trim. Did to me anyway, at least to the extent that a luxury car purchase ever makes "sense".

and the crazy part is, from what I can tell it's missing cold weather package which would put the price even higher. I have a hard time imagining someone spending over 70 grand on a 340 when you can get a pretty well equipped m3 for that money, especially a manual

I purchased a FULL LOADED 340i M Sport with Track Handling for less than $60k (I got it below MSRP). There is NO WAY I could see one going for $70k. For just a few thousand more I could get a new M3... Which I did.

Not quite apples to apples, but my wife's demo X135 was 25% off. It happens.

As for the $70k 340, no thanks. I will take my euro delivery M3 for $60k all day long, and if I didn't get an M3 would go lightly optioned 340 with 6mt and m sport package for a lot less money or a CPO 7 series with way more lux and still for less money

Pray for us up here in Canada. A reasonably optioned 340 or 440 is easily $70K+ up here and the residuals are crap along with crazy interest rates (5.9 and 4.9 respectively).
