Sorry to bring this up from the first page, but I've been wondering about oil starvation issues since our oil pan isn't baffled. Is there a baffled oil pan upgrade out there? Would a baffled oil pan help keep the pick-up submerged in oil?
***NEVER MIND*** I should have done my research first. It looks like the N55 already has a baffled oil pan to prevent starvation issues. SWEET!! Per the N55 Technical Training Document, page 50

Now as far as determining that sweet spot, that's the real trick. I will say that I've read people claim that Nitto NT01s in 275mm width felt squirmy on 9.5" wheels... but this likely varies significantly from tire to tire, and even possibly from wheel to wheel. (e.g. I've found Bimmerworld TE:AL forged wheels to be wider than the equivalent Apex ARC-8 wheel). I elaborated a bit more on my thoughts here in post #42 of this thread.

Thanks very much for the input. It's just that the BW TA16 10" wheels are $500 more than Apex Arc 8 9.5" wheels and weigh a pound more each, so I'd prefer the Apex of course. I'm still debating.
I got the LSD installed, but haven't had it at the track yet. It definitely does some nice controlled drifts now. I also got another 335 as a daily to replace my wife's former daily (aka my new track car) 😂 |

Hey guys I took the plunge and went all in on suspension (partially bc of this thread and DVC)
Install list: 1. M-Performance LSD 2. Delrin rear subframe bushings 3. AFe F/R Sway bars 4. F80 LCAs 5. ECS monoball thrust arms I also have KW Clubsport coilovers and a Front strut tower brace. The car feels awesome and I finally had an opportunity to push it a bit on a rally over the weekend (after diff was broken in). I’m doing a PCA track weekend in 3 weeks at Sebring and ordered PFC-08 pads. Will check back in afterwards. Build post: |

I was planning to buy a set of track wheels/tires next but my instructor recommended a HANS device and harness to feel the feedback from the car better and not use the steering wheel and feet to brace myself in. Probably going to be a couple of months before I can get back out with travel but I'm hooked and the car is working out great for a non-M car.

Some M3/4 bucket seats would probably do you well too.

I'm looking into options for a harness and there are none that do not require a harness bar or half cage which lose the backseat and I still daily my F30 so not a good option. Schroth makes one for the E90 and supposedly have one under development for the F30. I sent them an email am waiting to hear back. https://www.bimmerworld.com/SCHROTH-...-3-Series.html
With the harness you get better feedback from the car and avoid bracing yourself with the steering wheel and dead pedal (not to mention added safety). It also allows left foot braking which a lot of drivers like to get on the throttle sooner and out of corners faster.

I've been tracking my car and realized I'm getting fuel starvation at higher boost levels, so I thought it might be the LPFP or fuel filter. So I bought a new LPFP, but I'm still having the issue. I'm curious what, if any, fuel pump upgrades y'all have done. I'm not sure if I need to upgrade the LPFP or the HPFP. I'd love to upgrade both, but they are very expensive.

The guys that run big boost, speed tech or PS2 turbos with full E85 on N55's usually have upgraded LPFP (Bmp4 module needed to run them), upgraded hpfp to XDI or port injection which requires a separate controller (aic split second or JB4). You are in it for thousands at this point which is why I haven't pulled the trigger on anything myself.
