F30 2012 or 2013?

I've seen a few posts here where people are wondering about the 2013 production starting in July.

I have my car lined up and ready to place the order. However I thought that since its April and only 2 to 3 months away from the start of the 2013 production; should I wait?

What would be the pro's and con's for the 2013 model. I really want my F30 ASAP but I'm willing to hold off for a few months and get the 2013 model which will be a whole year newer.

Any suggestions guys??? Thanks as always! I love this forum!

You won't get the 2013 in Canada till September or October, maybe later. If you're ready to buy the car, buy the car. Nobody can tell you what you should do. It's your car, so it's your call.

BMW usually isn't very forthcoming with sharing future model year changes so you won't get much info from members other than guesses mostly, at least until close to the model year changeover (then you'll see 2013 changes start popping up in BMW's parts numbers and computers etc..).

As you can imagine they want to sell as many current model years as possible and would saying what's coming in next model year will just make people wait to buy.

My point is if I wait till September/October would it be beneficial for me? Are there any changes coming up? Will pricing change?

Because I'm willing to wait, I'm just thinking and trying to get advice from others if I should wait or not...

Well if u order it now you'll get it by July so hence you'll have half a year on the 2012 model...

I nvr really cared much for depreciation .. but if you really wanted to take that into consideration then go 2013 order in July..

But then again if u walk into a store and they do have the model you're lookin for which was made from the 2012 MY they will sell you that won't they?

The only material change is the offering of the msport pack. If you are not intending to get that pack, then I don't see any reason to wait

At this point you're just seeking for speculations. Nobody knows what will be in the 2013MY.

If you can get the car you like now, then get it.

I guess I'm gonna wait for MY2013. I've heard of a lot of issues with the current F30 such as whistling noise from behind the Nav screen or squeaky noise from behind the door.

Might as well wait for a month or two and get the 2013 F30; hopefully they would've fixed all the issues by then...

or vibrating steering wheel
or poor start/stop functionality.

in all honesty though, i'm still worried that some of these things wont be fixed for 2013.

But if they do fix these issues they will likely fix them for all model years, and you will have enjoyed owning the car that much longer.

DEFINITELY WAIT

1. Very rare that there aren't some differences year to year, possibly an option or two, and you'd benefit from the changes.
2. Let them get a few of the current bugs ironed out.
3. In a couple of months the 2012s will be last year's old stuff on the lot, depreciating like a ripe banana.

Yes, but then the issues are not necessarily a factor. If you want to see what comes next year then I suppose you'll have to wait.

What are the chances they'll throw in Blacked out kidney grill for the MY2013 Sport Line? With Adaptive M Suspension? All at NO cost!!!

The only real difference in 2012 vs 2013 is you are going to pay more for a 2013....

There is always a possibility of kinks they need to iron out since it is a brand new body of 3 series, but the N55 is proven and just about everything else is as well.

You will pay more for the 2013 though.

The 2013 model is pretty much to be guaranteed to be a better car quality wise.

First model year BMW's have a LOT of bugs and failures (mostly electronics issues), and most of this is corrected after a full year of production.

Not sure an early 2013 model year production is going to be much different - bugs-wise - from a 2012 since they haven't been out that long.....

But there are usually some packaging changes. Perhaps a small price increase, but that's inflation for ya....

Throwing in highly desired options as free when they're selling like hotcakes? I think the chances of that are slim..... But I'm crossing my fingers for sport suspension and sports seats to become available with the luxury line here in the US/Canada in the future... What's giving me hope? The 328 x-drive with the sports seats and the black headliner shown at the NYIAS.
