Does anyone actually have a before and after dyno for stage 1 with mppsk??
I?ve seen a couple with bad results and people remove them. I?d love to get these kind of gains but until I see some credible before and afters I have to hold off.

Also, like you, I love the Dinan FreeFlow exhaust, but I'm not bothered by a drone, I just hear a low hum that doesn't overwhelm the cabin or get obnoxious. But, I agree that it changes the car for the better!

Has anybody with the Dinan elite experienced drivetrain malfunctions or delayed shifts at redline with the 8AT and this Piggyback? How is the drivability compared to OEM?
For reference I have had two different Piggybacks and both have affected drivability and/or shift speeds to a noticeable amount...takes the joy out of driving the car. |

the jb4 on the other hand due to it's versatility and logging ability was able to fine tune and get driving much better but still with some transmission hiccups every once in a while (once a week driven every day vs every day with the dinan) but also with the jb4 the power was there and smooth and noticeable.

I have been trying to get Dinantrons Elite w/MPPSK installed on my '17 440i Gran Coupe for almost a month now. Purchased through my BMW Service Center(Authorized Dinan Retailer/Installer). The first time my car was there for 5 days before I needed it back. Currently my car has been there for 12 days. It keeps throwing faults as soon as they turn the car on. I am friendly with the SAs over there and basically they are telling me that Dinan asks for data, they provide it and then they do not hear anything back until the next day. I will give them the benefit of the doubt being that I am in NY and Dinan is California. At this point though, I would have thought that Dinan would have just sent out a new module instead of getting no where with mine. Seems like they are using my car like a test subject to see what is wrong with their tune. I am a little disappointed since I have heard such great things about Dinan and their products. This is a large service center so it is not like they do not know what they are doing either. Come Monday morning, if Dinan does not decide to send out a new module I am just going to get my money back and maybe go with the JB4.

They are finally sending out a replacement unit for the piggyback that I have. If it does not fix it I'm going to demand my money back. lol also , mind telling us what dealer you are at? I'm in NY as well and your story seems just like mine. My SA told me I wasnt the only one having issues and they insinuated that Dinan was trying to have them use my vehicle as a test subject as well lol. |

Dont know what your reading... At this point I have yet to see a positive review of Dinan Elite with MPPSK.... Some have proof that under their conditions it negatively affects drivability and performance.
I would get your money back and get JB4 for a fraction of the price - and you can tune it accordingly - a couple of us have much experience dialing it in for MPPSK. PS - if your running 91 octane run dont walk away. The MPPSK is already at its edge with 91 octane. Quote:

I've got good things to say about the Dinan Elite with MPPSK. At first, it was a rough go (as previously mentioned), and then a spark plug broke. HA! But BMW replaced all plugs and injectors and now it runs FANTASTIC. As good as OEM and pulls strong all the way through. I'm very happy with it now.

94 octane based on US rating?
91 runs like garbage - dont even bother with a JB4 or a Dinan device. You can run a JB4 if your willing to put in E85 to bring the 91 up to 93 or 94 (us octane rating). At 93 octane JB4 and MPPSK the max I ran run is 2 PSI above stock in the summer and 3 psi in the winter. When you have the JB4 you can watch your timing - if timing is dropping or running consistently low your gaining any benefit from the added boost. Both fuel octane/quality and air temp have a huge affect on timing for the B58 platform. Boost - surprisingly not so much; but I have never run 91 octane. However, different brands yield different base boost targets thus change the timing - which is very weird since they are all claiming to be 93 octane. |

Overall, the reason I mention or question this is I've had multiple piggybacks now on the B58 and none of them have been exceptional. I've yet to try the JB4 but from what I've seen and read even on the Burger forums I can't see it performing any better or worse than say Dinan or AA besides being able to turn it down. At that point having a $600 boost controller for a couple PSI doesn't make a ton of sense to me. The only way I find the JB4 to be cost prohibitive is either running E85 and monitoring ethanol content or having methanol injection at which point the JB4 is in a league of it's own. Again, personal opinion and I've toyed with the option of a JB4 but seeing flash tuning could be around the corner I think I'm personally done with the piggybacks, especially for 8AT consumers that generally can't get around the torque intervention issues. |

To much extent your right... for most that have the mppsk I don’t think the jb4 or any piggy back is worth it solely on power... however if you must squeeze out the last mile of power the piggy back does what it’s intended sometimes . For me I intended to run e85 or meth... but surprisingly that extra 20 30 ponies to the wheel is like mppsk and no mppsk .... so it’s most certainly felt. I probably won’t run meth..e85 will do when 5r bug bites me.
Dyno.... I have not dynoed but a few guys I collaborate with that have the same setup... they are with the jb4 pull about 400 to he wheel.. my 3 psi is like jb4 on map 3 or map5... if you don’t care about sound don’t get the mppsk and just get the jb4 or other piggy back... far simpler .. In the end your limited by timing.... octane makes the biggest difference especially with mppsk and a piggyback... Jb4 vs dinan ..... octane.... without knowing your timing too much boost will decrease performace... this is why you hear some saying he car dynoed lower or ran lower trap times with the piggy back... too much boost will cause the car to pull timing if you don’t have enough octane... iat is another factor that exahaerbates timing pull... for me I can run 3psi in the winter and 2 psi in the dead of summer... e85 changes the game as it burns cooler and increases octane...(different discussion)... so...if you have no clue what your timing is...and you have no way to alter the level of boost...then your sol with a dinan as 91 octane or poor fuel quality... most likely you will see lower performance somewhere in the power band. In the end if your anti piggy back... don’t get one lol For the rest of us we will enjoy the extra 30 to 60 hp to the wheels... But I do agree one needs to make a wise choice if it’s worth it and getting the right unit for hr circumstance Quote:

The 8AT acts weird once you start to apply a very large amount of torque its not anticipating. The downfall of the piggy back... Its the biggest complaint right now (outside of applying too much boost without enough octane or down pipes causing TC)... I mostly drive in manual mode in my AT... but when I put it in full auto I can get weirdness driving around town.

Really interested in throwing the S1 on my B58 MPPSK but the reviews seem mixed. Any of those who had underwhelming experiences before have anything new to report with time?
