4,500 miles - paid for oil service today

I'm not a fan of a first oil and filter service at 15,000. I had the dealer do the service today and happily paid for it. I'll get the next one when the car asks for it and probably stay on that schedule for the life of the car.

So far at 4,500 miles, NO PROBLEMS with anything. Car has been fantastic and delivers an city/highway average of 25mpg running mostly 89 octane.

Love the 6-speed manual and the MSport look and interior. The M Performance exhaust seems to bit a bit louder now that there are some miles on it. It sounds great opened up.

Just out of curiosity, how much did your dealer charge for the oil change service. I usually always do it myself (aside from the free ones), but sometimes the hassle of finding the right Euro oil, the price of said oil and the overall time and effort it takes to change it, that sometimes its worth it to pay $10 extra for a dealer change. When I had my last VW, they would do a full-synthetic change for $50 plus an inspection. To me, that was worth it.

I pronounce it "Beemer" and turn my fog lights on even when it's not foggy.

I had my car's oil changed yesterday (after 3500 miles) at my German BMW dealer: they charged me 250 Euro! I guess you guys in the US get it a couple of bucks cheaper, don't you?

It's crazy how much they charge for synthetic oil here in Europe. Just did my own oil change at 6300km, was easy just like any other BMW I've done. Luckily I get the oil cheap at the US Army Garrison here and ordered the filter through Bimmian.com.
Was honestly alarmed at how cruddy the oil and filter looked with it this new and the fact that I only got 5.5 quarts out of it (takes 7 normally). If anyone is considering changing their oil between scheduled intervals I say do it.
