Rest button

Hey guys.

Does the f30 have the rest button?

I think that's what it's called...

It's the button that keeps the heat going in the car when you shut the engine.

I looked in the manual and didn't see. I also can't seem to find it on the dash. Did the remove it on the f30?

Not sure yet about the F30 but I had an '07 X5 that did that automatically. No button, just a setting in the idrive to use it or not. So I'd check the vehicle settings menu.

Garage List
Try pressing the button to turn on the fan after you turn the car off.

Rest function was stripped from the E9X series sometime after 2008; it doesn't seem to show up on the F30 either.

I'm going to try the fan button after the car is off. I hope they didn't take that feature away. I found it so help when running out of the car real quick.

I check the menu settings and manual. Didn't see anything, but I'm going to try again. If I find, I'll post where I found it. Thanks!

After driving the car, and turning it off, I tried to turn on the fan. I was hoping this would act as the rest button. Unfortunately it didn't.

I'm dropping my car off this week for an annoying squeak issue. I'll ask the service advisor about it then. Just thought I'd share.

The iDrive has something about setting a timer for the climate control.. I have yet to play with that, but maybe it's what you're looking for?

Yeah that might be it. I was reading a little about that in the owners manual and I think that's the rest feature.

i think the timer is for fresh air. so if you left work at 5pm, you set it to let in fresh air at 455pm. it'll cool you car and such and let the outside air in. not sure if it'll change the temp. I never leave work at the same time, so i never tried it out. but when i did the PCD, they showed me that option in my 08 135i. It looked like it was the same in the f30. I'll play around with that also.

but before, you had a nice warm engine, and before you ran into the store real quick, you hit the rest button and it keeps the car nice and toasty. That way you come back and your freezing again. I'll let investigate further and inform.

So I checked this out...

Settings-->climate. --> activate parked car vent.

It's greyed out when the car isn't off. But when you hit the start stop button to turn off the car, u can then select it. You can't store this in a preset, but you can store the climate selection In settings as a preset. This will bring you to the options and then you can quickly select the parked car vent.

Thanks for your help fellas.

OK, I'm confused. I thought this was to ventilate the car to cool it down or keep it cool. And I thought the 'rest' feature was to keep the car *warm*. I have this option, but I cannot find anything that even remotely resembles 'rest'. Nor can I find the alleged 'ALL' button to set both temp controls simultaneously. Anyone know where that one is? BTW, I have a 2013 335 Sportline, Premium, Technology pkg, etc...

Thanks!
