335i exhaust

I noticed that when I turn on my car in the morning black fumes come from the right exhaust only as if the left one is not connected is this normal? Also my exhaust tips get black really fast is this because the car is a twin turbo?

It's normal for exhaust to flow out one side only because the other is closed off until a certain throttle/speed. I believe it's for emissions reasons.

Is there anything actually twin turbo'd now? Or is it all 'twinpower turbo'?

The new M5 and M6 both use a 4.4L twin-turbo V8, replacing the old V10.

The N20 and N55 engines used in the 328i and 335i, as well as other models, have single, twin scroll turbochargers, hence the "TwinPower Turbo" moniker.

Exactly what he said. TwinPower just sounds better than TwinScroll. Either way, it's a single turbo!

The left exhaust pipe valve will be closed at low RPM for Acoustic reasons/
It reduced low RPM droning sounds from the exhaust

I don't think anyone answered your second question.

The black sooty deposit shows up more quickly with heavy throttle use; the engine mapping is richer at WOT, normally aspirated or force-fed.

It's not just marketing bs. A twin scroll turbo is actually quite different from your conventional single turbo.
