BMW Performance Grilles
These just showed up today. Genuine BMW Performance grilles from Stuart at BMR Autowerkes. Great service - paid for them yesterday and received today!
Will post more pics when I get round to putting them on the car.

LOL... they must have only had one set in stock! You should get them in time for your car anyway.
Yeah, more than happy to give you a hand, just let me know. The clips look similar to the E92. There's also a diy floating around the forum so it shouldn't be too difficult. Hard part will be getting the old ones out without breaking the clips.

Yes, no major rush on them. If they're here before it'd be great, if not, i'll install them when they are here.
I'm hoping that the old clips aren't too stubborn to get out though edit: I'm sure they'll get here before my car... the ship it's on just did a loop-de-loop haha Last edited by Spikey; 11-01-2012 at 12:22 AM.. |

there's a step by step in the diy section. seems easy enough:
remove screws lift front fascia a little use hand to slowly unclip each clip on existing attached grill remove grill once all unclipped repeat forother grill. install new ones. or forcefully yank each grill out, then shove new ones in and hope clips don't get damaged |

Yeah, pretty much as per Spikey's instructions. Not too difficult, although the clips are a pain. Managed to get the old ones out unscathed which was good. Took about 20mins. All you need are the right sized torx keys/drivers.
Here's a quick pic I took last night anyway.

Very nice~
rounds off the whole black look very nicely. Did you just fidget around using your fingers between the slats to undo the clips or do you have an easier method? |

Thanks fellas! I just put my whole hand and wrist behind the bumper (it has a fair bit of flex in it). The clips on the bottom have to be released upwards so they're almost impossible to get to from between the slats, for my fingers anyway. One suggestion which may sound obvious though, is to just tackle the clips one by one in a circular manner going around the grille. Each one gets progressivily easier.

I wasn't sure about them either on black but a couple of recent photos on the forum swayed me. I'm liking them now they're on the car, so I'll rock the gangsta look for a little bit. The original Sport Line Chrome/Matt ones still look pretty good though.
Some more pics on the way to coffee this morning.

Looking good thanks for the shots mate.. I think your shots actually give a very real perspective of how they look like in real life compared to the ones i've seen online.

Great job. I think this is one of the best blackout job on a Sport Line. I weighed between M Sport and Sport Line, decided M Sport is too aggressive looking.
The only thing bothers me is the splitters connected to the fog lights, they are silver, at least in the US market, I want them black just like yours. Did you paint them or buy aftermarket blacked out ones? |

Thanks, that was a while ago. I've actually gone back to the Sport line ones for the time being. I think I prefer the way they link together with the headlights, at least on a black car.
For the whiskers I just removed them, lightly sanded and gave them a few coats of satin black spray. They've held up pretty well. |
