Is this a problem??
So i was switching my tires today. Found this on front right hub. Looks like grease. A tire shop installed my winter tires, is it possible they put this on ?
Or is something leaking? I looked around and didn't find any other spots with this. I cleaned it off and installed my tire for now but am worried that it maybe a problem. |

either some dumbass shop couldn't put that wheel on or your wheel bearing might be going out. drive it for 500 miles and recheck that side if theres any more grease.

The shop probably had a hard time taking the summer wheels off and put some anti-seize on there. I wouldn't worry about it.

Haaa maybe it was the only one that he felt like doing. If the hub was failing you would have a lot of heat, noise and possible smoke coming from it.

I put anti seize on my hubs like that to prevent the wheel from sticking to the hub. It also prevents rust here in the northeast. It looks normal to me. In fact, this is the same color grease I use.

^ This. I also put a little anti seize on the hub. The northeast can be a bear with both temps and precipitation which help facilitate adhesion of the wheel to the hub.

I do the same thing as well. I put anti-seize as well on my hubs to ensure I do not have a hard time removing the wheel when I rotate my tires.
I also put some anti-seize on the lug bolts because the bolts tend to get hard to remove and you can strip the lug bolt or brake the wheel lock key trying to remove them. Ask me how I know...

Here's what my hubs looked like on my fresh from the factory 2018. Without any anti seize:
Here's what it did to the inside of my new wheels: So I cleaned them up with a green 3M scratch pad and taped everything off, and painted with high temp silver. Then I put some anti seize on the lip of the hub and the back of the wheel.

Most likely anti-seize. If your hub bearing was failing, any grease wouldn't be seen there; you'd see it on the backside. Although, it wouldn't be much.
