AFE vs Dinan Intake

Hi Guys,
I want to get an intake for my 335i but not sure which one.
Seems like seal-box are better preventing hot air into it. So from this 2 seal box which one will be better performance and better sound. Whooshhhhh

1- AFE Momentum Pro 5R Intake $495

2- Dinan. Can get it for $495 too

Open intakes options are also welcome.

Thanks

Save your money and keep the factory system. Intakes do nothing but make noise, unless that's what you want. I'd go with a DP or an exhaust.

So all of them make false advertisement on gain around 10hp and 15tq?
They also improve the sound of the turbo.

Really quick. I don't have anything against installing an intake. But the advertisement of additional power is wrong. So yes, they are lying, but what are you going to do about it. It's like a health supplement, there is no FDA oversight or testing so you can claim what ever you want.

Yes, you will get more noise. That may make you think your making more power but your not. And remember, Dinan figures are at the crank, not wheel. So the 15hp they measured will not be noticed on on the butt dyno.

If you really want to make more power, consider a tune. Not much more expensive than an intake. The n55 is an amazing engine from the factory and can be easily be tuned safely for 30+ whp.

Not really looking for power just some whooshig sound from the turbo. I have MPPK with MPE and I will add the jb4 and downpipe after the intake.

Spend $80 on an aftermarket drop-in filter instead. You'll hear the whoooooosh!

I have the AFE stage 2 cold air, installed on my 13' 328 Msport. ..if you are looking for that Swoosh sound and more "throghty" sound I would highly recommend this. I LOVE THE SOUND it makes....you hear it the most in sport mode.

The Dinan one does sound pretty sweet - I don't regret having it, i'm not sure about the value per dollar ratio though the price you got there sounds solid.

Can you post a video when you can. I will like to hear it.

Don't mind to spend $500 on intake. I already spend like 8k on m performance parts. MPPK, MPS, MPBK , MPE, MP LIP, MP DIFUSSER, ROCKET SIDE, SILLS, PEDALS. 😱👌

gains are in "optimized" conditions meaning the car has to be fully bolt on in order to get these gains and even then it is only at a very short range of the RPM ( after 5500 RPM)

Either get an open intake (for the sound) or save your money for a better mod

Ok, I'm looking for jb4 + dp and I can see you have those in a combo. With those 2 I will still need intake or intercooler to run map 2? Also CP will hold in map 2?

No need for an intake or intercooler to run map 2
An intercooler would be a good addition sometime in the future though

I have seen a lot of people run map 2 on stock charge pipe with no problems. That being said if budget allows, add the CP as well

Then your on track.

I would assume AFE would sound better since the design has a larger filter. Dinian always designs products to be more quite and streetable.

I'm not sure if I ever mentioned this before........ But the bms intake I bought is likely my favourite mod to date. The significantly louder turbo spool..... Whooooooooooosh along with the much more noticeable sound of the dv make it waaaaaay more enjoyable when driving.

I bought the intake for this purpose alone. I couldn't care less about adding power (or even losing a few horses for that matter) . If you feel l the same, don't bother spending money on the dinan or are. Just go bms or injen and call it a day. You won't regret it.

If I'm getting any I can't hear it. Although I do believe the car can breathe a little easier especially when I'm giving it the beans.

OP if you already have the MPPK then your intake can breathe good (important on the 335), but as you know it doesn't really do anything for added intake sound.

Yes, I was thinking on that as BMS one runs for about $200 and they do the pretty much the same thing than AFE and Dinan one for $500. But afe and dinan look sexy with the seal box and CF on dinan.

Yes I was thinking also that as I do have the MPPK do want to lose something in the processes. At leas with dinan can use my bottom box from the mppk intake that has a hole for a better breathe.

I guess I will be getting the afe pro dry s drop in as non of full one really do anything spectacular rather than noise. So for just noise whooosh is good to just spend $65 on sale now.

Went to BMS one as is not that expensive and by far one off the best in sound. Now is this an oiled or dry filter? Not an option as AFE provides.

It's oiled as explained in the description. It's K&N which surprised me. Still though, $50 is cheap.
