F30 328: gear stick wiggle when idling in start/stop

Hello all-

Just came across this article: http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews..._march_update/

Any manual owners experiencing this dancing gear stick phenomena? IYO, does it bother you?

test drove a 6MT yesterday...that gear shifter has a ridiculous amount of shake. I daily drive a 2010 VW GTI and the shifter is smooth, doesn't move.. the salesman yesterday was like, "whoa...."

i told him that I didn't DISLIKE that, but it's something i certainly would not expect.. especially after having driven E92 M3s and E46 330s with manual transmissions.

if you take your hand off the shifter and look it, it just vibrates like crazy and you definitely feel it.

Nice review btw, not seen that before. I particularly like the fact that they listed out all the options featured on their test car.

Returning to the thread topic, that sounds very wrong - the shift on a car of this calibre should be rock steady. Alongside concerns about steering wheel vibration, high-pitched whistling sounds and dashboard squeaks, it seems there are still a few niggles to be ironed out.

You just wait and see that shaking 320d stick There's more than one reason I am going auto next time. Luckily enough, the shaking of the stick is not noticeable anywhere else in the car, but it looks cheap. I guess the petrol engines aren't even close to the diesel engines' vibrations.

Wow, you said it. I agree 100%. I'm waiting for the F31 which apparently wont be available in my market til 2013. Hopefully by then the cars will be fully sorted out and I wont have to post about vibration, squeaks and whistling noises!

Yeah after reading that I am now heavily reconsidering the 8AT. Although I think this shaking stops when the start/stop feature is disabled?

But I was also thinking for a 6MT M sport 328, since they'll include short-shifter for that M package, think they'll at least iron out that kink?
