BMW 340i - JB$ Install

Hello,

Just wanted to hear if this self-install is longer or hard or shorter and easier on the b58 engine. Any links or input? Thanks!

Easiest install from my experience. It was my first piggyback install too. Just as easy as the bms intake.

Heck even the downpipe was easy. It took one hour only. Never took the exhaust off either.

I'm not incredible at mods and I took a swing at it and it was no problem. Just make sure you disconnect the battery. You'll need a 10MM socket to take off the bolts to access the OBD2 under the steering wheel.

The in engine compartment connections will take 5-10 min for the OBD2 leave it disconnected and feed it back through the firewall from the inside up into the engine area then connect it to the JB4.

Use the pics in the install guide take your time it's a 30-40 min install even for a newb first time.

I'd def recommend a downpipe and BMS intake to go with it to really unleash the tune.

Did you find the N55 install difficult or too annoying?

The only pain in the azz is if you have a stick car, getting the OBD connector through the firewall through the large grommet. Its a royal pain but can be done with a wire hangar and lots of patience, hanging upside down under the dask, and a few scraped up knuckles. LOL

Coat hanger works great and can be done pretty fast.. Sometimes you get unlucky and it won't go but most of the time its pretty quick to route in.

Its pretty simple.. Budget 30-45min for the install. Take your time and it will be a simple job.

The auto trans cars are so much easier. Has the spot for the clutch cut out, you just pop it out and run it through.

I had a real headache with mine.

Yes AT is much simpler.. Same as the F80.. MT requires a little more fun. I miss my MT , but JB4 install was simpler on the DCT..
