Hi guys,

So i just bent one of my new wheel after only 1 week...yeah fu** me! I have a f30 with X drive and i just bought some TSW Luco matte black with machined tinted lip.

Wheel setup :
19x8.5 + 35
19x9.5 + 40

Wrap in the OEM tire so 225-40-19 and 225-35-19 Runflat

Couple friends of mine told me that the runflat dont absorb the road because they are a very stiff tire so it's the wheel that take the shot!

What do you think about that? Should i get ride of those shity runflat or can i use them 1 more summer (they are brand new) because it's not why the wheel bent. I didn't hit hard a pothole if you are wandering!

Now here is options for the tire brand :

Michelin pilot 4S (1260$ CAD) OR Firestone Firehawk indy 500 (740$ CAD)

There is a huge difference in price, but is there that huge difference in performance too? Review on the indy 500 are amazing!

Also, car will be drop on bilstein b14, so about the size, and because X drive, was thinking about going 245-35-19 and 275-30-19. I know setup will be flush, without rubbing and no stupid camber. Think it's a good idea or i should go with 235-35-19 and 265-30-19?

Definitely go with 245/275 sizes, I've heard of issues reported with 235/265 being too small for the car. I want to go 235/40/19 and 265/35/19 next but there are hardly any tire options available at this size especially here in Canada

I run 245/275 currently and they are fine even though some would point out that the fronts are about 1.2% larger than the rears

The tire type doesn't matter imo. A big enough bump will damage the wheel. The only wheel/tire things that could affect it is if the tires are stretched or if you have low tire pressure. But a wider RFT/more tire pressure will prevent it from happening.

IMHO (and reading), the main cause of bent wheels is too large a wheel and too low a profile tire. 19" is in that category IMO. I've never bent a 18" (or 17") rim except for hitting a curb.

RFT doesn't really figure into bent rims, if you think about it. A softer-sidewall tire (go-flats) allows the pothole/whatever "easier" access to the rim.

I went with a 235/40r19 & 265/35r19 Michelin 4s and couldn't be happier. Perfect fit on x drive. I can't speak to the Firestone but the Michelins not only performance well but also look great. Thats worth the extra money to me.

The Firestones are great bang for the buck tires. They will do 90%+ of what a P4S will do and they are dirt cheap, I highly recommend them.
