This was a '76 530i. Accident was about 70+ MPH; I was wearing no seat belt. I sustained rather minor injuries. But it goes to show, even back to the '70s, there just isn't a safer car than a German one.

I can't think of many other cars in which I would've survived this and I'm supremely glad that I had no passengers with me.

Wow glad everyone is ok and am thankful that the BMW engineers are hard at work. Though the Swedish do have a good leg up on the Germans as far as car safety goes.

Glad you're ok. BMW rocks. Love the replacement.

Now I wouldn't say only german cars are safe. A lot of modern imports are safe. My wife was in a serious accident in her 2010 Honda Fit and it looked about the same as your BMW. It's a small car and yet the cabin was intact.

A lot of people drive american made SUVs and trucks thinking they are safer because they are bigger, big uninformed mistake.

Really gives a meaning to the BMW concept of a driver-oriented car...

Another reason I wouldn't even think twice before buying a BMW.
Reminds me of someone a few years back when the e90 m3 first came out that swerved to avoid hitting a deer and rolled over multiple times, walked away from it too. The Cars are truly built like tanks.

I'm glad you were OK and this truly shows how much modern cars have advanced. I lost a friend who had a head-on collision with a Toyota Yaris. She was in an old Ford Taurus. The driver of the Yaris walked out of the car.

Glad to hear you are okay.

This is proof that the old thought of "bigger always means better in a wreck" isn't necessarily true.

Again, glad to hear you are okay.

Happy to see that you are ok!! your new car looks awesome! I took my first Bmw 10 days ago and I have to say that's there is no comparison with the other cars! in quality, safety etc.!
a friend of mine has an E46 coupe (1998 model) and he found oil to the road, arriving to an electricity column with 80km/h... the engine was destroyed but the "greenhouse" was not even touched. he walked out unscratched!
