Stuck on water pump

Electric water pump running all the time after turning my car off killing the battery with in a few hours. Acting like you are preforming the coolant bleed procedure forever!! Anyone experience anything like this before? Out of warranty👎

Temporary solution would be to unplug the battery negative terminal until you can get the situation resolved by referring to the Bentley manual. Sound like you might need a new ECU or something, maybe a salvage accident car with body damage only can be used or see if someone is selling one in classifieds. I have heard of something like this happening.

Thank you, I sure hope that’s not the case! I have the battery unhooked as I troubleshoot. Is there a way to reset the ECU?

Is your car an M-Sport? I had some troubles with the auxiliary coolant radiator/fan unit that had failed, causing limp mode and the water pump and fan to run wild. Threw codes, but was intermittent. I had the unit replaced and no more problems. Check your codes and that will tell you more about what's going on. Could be something as simple as a water temp sensor or whatever's controlling the water pump.

When you plug it back in does the water pump come back on? Seems like roundel had a similar situation. If you can find the unit that controls the fan or pump and replace that it may work. You may have to refer to the Bentley manual on how to do that.

Yes comes on right away. I have some temp sensors coming and a fan relay since I don’t recall seeing the cooling fan running. Thanks for the help, I will post when I figure it out

Try FCP Euro if you need to replace any parts they're pretty cheap and have a lifetime warranty.

Never read before coffee....I saw the title and said “how did the pump get stuck onto the engine” haha.

$200 diagnosis $575 part and $536 for labor fluids etc... Grand total $1311. Should have done it myself but just finished the oil filter housing gasket and just wanted to be done with it all. Doing the tensioner pulley today super easy and should be good for a couple years I hope 🤞

Ouch! This is a absurd charge for diagnostics. I know you probably didn't have the time, but the part at FCP ranges from about $325 (OE) to $470 (BMW OEM) with lifetime warranty/replacement.
