It's a bit of an optical illusion as on the 18's there's less silver wheel and more black tyre wall which blends into the dark wheel arch.
Agreed, it is an optical illusion but visually IMO it does look better. However, I appreciate that everybody will have their own view.

Subjectively, My F30 on 19" rims and sport suspension rides better than my E90's on 18" wheels with the same suspension.

Now this is true: A rather attractive Kosovan woman washes my Estoril Blue BMW. I've named him Reinhardt and her name is Natalia. I think 19" would be too much for her! The mind boggles. Nice to be a very dirty old man!

Similar day. Up at 5.30am and just going to grab dinner. Still, the journey home was fun!

Well then surely 22" rims is the way to go? You'll get her bent over them for much longer

My thoughts exactly!!! I liked them, but they'd have been a bitch to clean. Also, I wanted the 255's out back without the discomfort of having 19"ers. Therefore, 398's were a no brainer! Plus I much preferred the look of them on the Luxury line.

I am finding the 403's a pain to clean! The 19" 5 spoke wheels I had on the CLS were just so easy to clean I was spoilt.

Still for sale at the dealer even though I gave it back in October.

Richard: A beautiful woman can be high maintenance. Ditch the bitch!

Anyway, I think the 18" are just as pretty.

This is desperate, but, does anybody with the 403's have alloy wheel insurance? I can't find any insurer that'll cover diamond cut wheels...

I'm sure you guys are all very well aware of this but I need to get my post count up , I find using a product such as autoglym alloy wheel seal helps lots by stopping the break dust really binding to the wheel. Quick rinse and sponge off and there good again.

Must have missed this thread while I was away.

I'm sure everyone who chose the 403s chose it for its looks.

Not read anywhere, yet, anyone who' s regretted getting them over the 18s.

It's pretty funny how some who got their F3x with 18s first said they slightly regretted not going for the 19s are now saying the the 19's are not as good etc etc.

I miss my 19s, only had them on for 2 weeks before I put winters on. Currently on 18s non rft, have to say though the ride is a lot smoother. Will have to see if going back to them if the harder ride will bother me. Miss the grip on the 19s.

I've never been a huge big-rim fan to be fair. But the more I look at pics the more I find myself liking the fewer arms on the 18s. I think it's the number of arms rather than the size of the rim...

Yeah I choose my 403's because of looks, think they look nicer... which is my own view and don't expect everyone to agree. The day I buy a car based on ride quality and how easy it is to clean - I think I'll ring Honda:P

You won't. You'll have to bite the bullet and fix them à la carte if and when you bugger them!

The problem is you can only fix them once. Even then the steering feels odd and the car will tend to pull to the side which has the machined wheel if the wheel is on the front axle.
