2013 Melbourne Red 335i F30 Sport Line to M-Sport: My Flavor
Happy Fourth of July, everyone!
My post today shows the changes I've made to my Melbourne Red 2013 335i after about fifteen months of ownership. Before buying my F30, I heavily debated Sport Line vs. M-Sport Line as each had their advantages. I landed on Sport Line as it came with aesthetic features that would be difficult or impossible to add to an M-Sport - mainly I'm referring to the contrast red stitching throughout the cabin. I loved that feature and couldn't understand why the M-Sport didn't offer it. So I went with the Sport Line and knew I could change out the front bumper cover/side skirts/etc. later on fairly easily. After months of deliberation and sourcing of parts, my flavor of M-Sport is complete. I decided to not replace the rear bumper cover because I really like the stock Sport Line's horizontal black line that ties in with my theme. I didn't feel it added much to the look and Photoshop images made it clear. I was pleasantly surprised that adding M Performance parts to the M-Sport pieces was quite affordable. There are some really high quality replicas on eBay if you're willing to find the right sellers and have a good shop to install them. As for painting, I chose to make the lower lip of the M Performance front splitter and the side blades gloss black. I also made the spoiler two-tone; red when viewed from the front of the car and gloss black from behind. I got the idea from some similar combinations here on bimmerpost, but I don't know if another car has my exact paint scheme. I love the new look. It is mean yet still classy. I know many of you will scream "lower it!" or "black out the grills!" but I've decided against both of those already. With a family of four and the new low front air damn the stock sport suspension (RWD) is perfectly balanced and I've outgrown the slammed look. Maybe I'm just becoming an old fart. Anyway, thanks for reading and on to the photos! My car in traditional Sport Line form: First photos of my M-Sport: |

Yeah, it has exceeded my expecations. It isn't too in-you-face red but it also certainly isn't dark red or maroon. I'm very happy I went with MR. |

very nice combo! I really like the MB color. I personally would have gone for the M-sport bumper with the performance diffuser, I think it would look great in red/black combo. But tastes differ and that's a good thing! Really like your car anyway!

I also like the factory fog lights on the sport line which is also deleted in USA-spec M-Sports (except for some of the really recent ones I hear). |

Looks great, I also retrofitted the m-sport front to my car.
I kind of want to do the side skirts as well - how did you go about installing them?
