SO yesterday going down an offramp at 15mph on a road slated for 25mph my car's DTC was going nuts trying to keep the ass from breaking loose. Whenever it rains it is literally like i am driving on ice... Already lodged a complaint with BMW and have stopped driving the car until i get new tires.

Right now my 1984 Camry (that doesn't have traction control.) has better traction in the wet and cold then my 3... pretty sad.

Msports come with summer tires as standard.
AS tires are an option.
Have you checked to see if your tires as summer or AS?
If they are the OEM summer tires, then in cold weather they won't even handle wet conditions.

They are all-season not summer however my Z3 has Summer Yokohama Advans that are like 8 years old... yet the car has better stability then my F30....

I know a summer tire from an All Season. If I had gotten the summer tires they would have been the Bridgestones. The all season Pirellis are just crap... they are utter shit tires. How does a 328i with all-season tires nearly tale spin at 15mp down an off ramp when my Z3 has been driven in winter on summer tires and my camery has 195 uniroyals, doesn't have traction control, and can go down that same ramp at faster speed in the rain and at the same temp.

The issue here is I have an incredibly bad of tires where the compound seems to have the same compound as a Summer tire. They are honestly behaving like a set of Hankook Ventus RS-3s in winter and wet...

you have summer tires.

the cinturato comes in two flavors. all season and summer.

BMW only specs square all season setups.possible tires are the pirelli cinturato, contiprocontact ssr.
Cars with the sport package or Msport package get summer tires as default. all seasons are a no cost option, but change the Msport to a square setup. the Sport package is square by default already.

Staggered setups are summer only.possible tires are the bridgestone s001, pirelli cinturato, contisportcontact 5 ssr, goodyear efficientgrip run on flat, goodyear F1 rof, pirelli pzero, dunlop sp.

bmw does not do a factory all season staggered setup.

i misspoke slightly. i've clarified my original post.

all all season setups are square BUT not all square setups are all season.

all staggered setups are summer

you can have all season or summer for a square setup.
you can only have summer for a staggered setup (from the factory.)

Tires

If it adds anymore to the confusion, look at the sidewalls. Mine say all season on them. I have Pirelli tires on.

Thanks for putting up this thread. I was complaining the other day how easily the tires lost grip when it was cold and the road was wet. Almost unbearable at anything above 3k rpm at low speeds. Wheels would spin with hardly any throttle.

All this time I assumed they were all seasons (but wondering why my vin look up said I had the 155mph speed limiter). Now it all makes sense...

As the previous poster pointed out, you have 'summer' performance tires, not AS tires.

For the F30 AS tires do not come in staggered sizing direct from BMW.
Staggered sizing only comes with summer tires.
So, that explains the issues you are having as those tires aren't designed for winter use.

These tires are not good in the rain at all. I have the AS version of this tire and I will literally slam into the rail guard if exceeding 40 mph on an off ramp. They are lots of fun if you want to find an empty parking lot after a nice rain and drift all over the place but not so fun if your objective is to stay on the road during hard cornering.

I don't have this car or the tires any longer. My current 335i came with the good year summer run flats and I can say they're a bit better but the pirellis were less noisy especially on the highway.
